When Karan Johar announced the cast of his upcoming directorial titled Takht, it blew everyone's minds. The film is set in the Mughal Era and stars Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. Earlier, during an interaction with Film Companion, Karan called Takht as the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham of the Mughal Era. Karan announced the film by tweeting, "An incredible story embedded in history... An epic battle for the majestic Mughal throne...  A story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love & of succession... TAKHT is about WAR for LOVE..."

Recently, we caught up with Vicky who looked very excited and surprised when he got to know about being a part of Takht alongside such prolific actors of Bollywood. Talking about Takht, he stated to Pinkvilla, "I can't give out the details of what I am playing as that's the protocol I have to follow. It's a period film set in the Mughal era and it has got all sorts of emotions from love, deceit to betrayal, succession, getting the throne, the politics around it and everything."

Vicky further said, "Karan himself put it in a very good way where he said it's a concentrated version of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in the Mughal era. I think that's very apt of him to say. I am very excited and equally anxious to be a part of that world."

On being asked about when the film will go on floors, Vicky replied, "It's going to take some time to prep as the level of the film is very huge. So, we are going to prep for it and then start shooting."
