EXCLUSIVE: Taapsee Pannu quips about Anurag Kashyap asking her to choose the male leads for Manmarziyaan
During an EXCLUSIVE interaction with Pinkvilla, Taapsee Pannu spoke at length about how Anurag Kashyap cast the male leads in Manmarziyaan keeping her in mind.
The trailer of Manmarziyaan has made us fall in love with all the three leads, Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap and the most interesting fact is that the first actor to be cast in the film was Taapsee, while Abhishek and Vicky were finalised keeping Pannu in mind. When we asked Taapsee about the same, she confirmed it in the quirkiest way. The actor stated, "When Anurag came on board, he wanted to cast Rumi first because it's the point of view of the girl. So obviously, he wanted the girl to be cast first and accordingly he will cast everyone else."
Taapsee went on to describe the whole conversation she had with Anurag regarding the casting process. The actor said, "When he met me, I remember telling him I liked the story and told him, let's do it. Then he asked, 'Tell me when you want to shoot the film?' And this was the first time someone was asking me when do you have to shoot. Otherwise, directors come and tell me, 'These are the dates, if it's fitting with your schedule, well and good, otherwise we have to work it out.'"
I thought at once, even if the project is happening or not with the way he was conveniently asking me my time. But then I told him, 'We can shoot from January or February (2018), I don't have time before that.' He said, 'Ok, done!'" she added.
Taapsee went on to say, "Then I told him to ask the rest of the actors if they will be available or not during this time, to which he said, 'Rest of the actors will be decided.' I asked him, who are the actors and whom are you planning to cast in the film.' Then he jokingly said, 'You tell me, whom should I take?!'" Anurag then told Taapsee that he will figure out about the male leads as she is already on board.
We asked Pannu if she was privileged with the fact that she was the first actor to be finalised in Manmarziyaan. To which she replied, "That's the first time, I felt I have achieved something in life."
