In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Pinkvilla, Rajkumar Hirani, the director of Sanju, revealed that Sanjay Dutt used to write letters to his loved ones during his jail term.
Since the time the trailer of Sanju was unveiled, people have been waiting for the release of the film. Now, the film is finally set to hit the screens tomorrow and a lot of stories related to Sanjay Dutt will be unfolded. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role.
Recently, we met the director of Sanju, Rajkumar Hirani and he revealed a lot of unknown facts about Dutt. We asked Rajkumar about Sanjay's time in jail and what difference he saw in him post his jail term. Hirani EXCLUSIVELY shared an anecdote to Pinkvilla stating, "When he was going to jail, I could sense that he was very depressed. He wrote a lot of letters from jail to many people and I have some of those letters. In those letters, over a period of one year, there were such depressing letters, where he would say, 'I don't even know if I would come back this time.' From that, he fought and fought, then the tone of his letter changed and became happier."
The ace filmmaker further said, "One day he wrote a letter to Abhijat [Joshi, the co-writer of Sanju] saying that 'Abhijat, last week I went to New York and I took my children there.' Abhijat got puzzled thinking he is in jail right now, how did he reach New York?! Then after one full page, Sanjay wrote, 'Hahaha! You know what, Abhijat? I dreamt about it.'"
Rajkumar concluded by saying, "He had accepted it and given up, 'Ok, I have to stay here.' That's why I call him a survivor."
