EXCLUSIVE - Rohit Shetty on Padmavati controversy: I have gone through this during Dilwale and it's a mess which should be sorted soon

The controversy surrounding Padmavati is getting uglier day by day. The Rajput Karni Sena has threatened to vandalise more theatres if the movie is screened. Despite, the makers and actors saying that the movie has no scene between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, the hooliganism has not been stopped yet.

Many Bollywood celebrities have expressed their opinions that how whatever happening is totally wrong and need to be stopped right away. During an interaction with PINKVILLA, when filmmaker Rohit Shetty was asked about the Padmavati controversy, he stated, "I have gone through this during Dilwale and it's a mess. I just feel it gets sorted out as soon as possible because it's a big budget film and everyone has worked so hard on it."

He further said, "I think as it gets over I will be more than happy that the movie has a peaceful release. It will be great for the production house and the industry also."

In a recent interview, when the lead actor of Padmavati, Deepika Padukone was asked about the ongoing controversy about the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, she stated, "It's appalling, it's absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed. The only people we are answerable to is the censor board, and I know and I believe that nothing can stop the release of this film."
