EXCLUSIVE: Nawazuddin Siddiqui: If Sacred Games was released as a movie, critics would've ruined it
In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Pinkvilla, Nawazuddin Siddiqui talks about his web series Sacred Games, being a part of the second season and his interest in doing romantic roles.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui can play any character perfectly. When it comes to dark and shady roles, the actor nails it and the character becomes likeable and a hit. Whether it is Faisal from Gangs of Wasseypur 2, Ramanna from Raman Raghav 2.0, or Liak from Badlapur, every negative role he plays has a unique terror and wildness. His last role as a villain Ganesh Gaitonde in the web series Sacred Games got everyone raving about it. Nawaz was spectacular as gangster Ganesh Gaitonde.
Sacred Games also had Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Pankaj Tripathi. However, Nawaz's style as a gangster, his dialogues and the way he gave himself away to play Gaitonde was commendable. In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Pinkvilla, we asked the Kick actor about his web series Sacred Games and if he wants to more such shows. He also confirmed that he is a part of the second season. The actor shared that he has now taken a romantic route in his career.
Read the interview below:
What do you have to say about the success of Sacred Games?
Wo isliye bahar aaya kyunki koi critics ne likha nahi uspe. Agar uski picture release karte, toh usko bhi barbaad kar dete critics. Jaise barbaad kar rahe hai filmon ko. Isliye toh Netflix aa raha hai. (It came out because critics had no say it in. If it was released as a movie, the critics would've ruined it, just the way they are ruining films. That's why there's Netflix.)
Would you like to do more web series?
Main aur web series nahi karna chahunga. Main sirf second season karunga Sacred Games ka. (I don't want to do more web series. I will only do the second season of Sacred Games.)
What kind of characters do you wish to play?
Main ab saari romantic filmen romantic role kar raha hoon. Aaj kal mera phase chal raha hai romantic filmon ka. 4-5 filmen hai aise. (I'm only doing romantic roles now. Currently, it's my phase going on of doing romantic films. I have 4-5 such films lined up.)
Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be next seen in Nandita Das' Manto. The film is slated to release on September 21, 2018.
