EXCLUSIVE: Katrina Kaif on DeepVeer reception: Was invited by them for sure & instinct in my heart was to go
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh invited Katrina Kaif to their reception held on December 1 in Mumbai. Katrina Kaif EXCLUSIVELY told Pinkvilla about everything from DeepVeer reception.
Earlier this year in January, when Deepika Padukone was asked by hostess Neha Dhupia on her celebrity chat show BFFs with Vogue, whether she would invite Katrina Kaif to her, the actress had said ‘No'. Katrina and she have shared a tricky past because they were dating Ranbir Kapoor. It’s said that Deepika’s bitter break-up with the actor was because he had dumped her for Katrina - something Deepika never forgave either for. But now, everything seems to be bygone and Deepika and Ranveer Singh invited Katrina for their wedding reception and buried the hatchet. The trio along with other guests sang and danced the night away at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on December 1, and Katrina left the party early morning. Buzz is that Deepika didn't invite Katrina but Ranveer sent the invite. Katrina fans have even spoken about a pic of Deepika and Katrina hugging each other, but none has surfaced in the social media till now.
We asked Katrina about meeting Deepika at her reception and taking pics together but the actress says, “Unfortunately, there wasn’t any pic taken. Though I would have loved to have one, but I think more important is the fact that we all had a good time.”
Apparently, initially the vibes were cordial but soon both the actress thawed and hugged each other and even danced together as Ranveer made them dance. Katrina laughs, “There are some moments which are too special and private to talk about and not meant for a public platform. What’s important was that it was a really warm and fun evening and we all had a good time. There was a lot of love and we all danced and ate and had great fun! I was there till the wee hours of the morning.”
Remind her about the BFF show where Deeepika had said she wouldn’t invite Katrina so it was nice of her to accept her olive branch and move beyond whatever hostilities they shared before that… Katrina says, “I was invited to the reception by them for sure and the instinct in my heart was to go, I felt I would like to go. There was no other thought behind it and we had very nice, warm, happy night.”
Katrina admits that her attitude towards her colleagues has changed over the years. She used to be more reserved earlier, but in the last year or so, she is making an effort to be friendlier and warmer to her colleagues including Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone especially on social media… “But I am also very responsive as a person, you know that. If somebody reaches out to me I will also meet him or her half-way. Yes I have changed in some ways. If someone has been that way with me or I have been that way with someone earlier, that’s the change which has come in now. It’s not all about what that person has done to me or made me feel or vice versa, it’s also more about, now it’s okay. It’s now more about people in their own lives, we are all colleagues – like I am very fond of Priyanka, I met her at a function the other day and we had a great time together…”
Katrina adds that she has become more accepting now. “Whatever said and done with certain people, now we all know each other for a long time… Even if your relationship with me has been one of conflict and not a peaceful one, that’s still a relationship that I have shared with you for many years so it’s still a relationship of some sort. It may a turbulent or angst-ridden one but it’s still a relationship that has been there for a long time. It doesn’t matter today.”
