In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Pinkvilla, we asked Jackie Shroff about his role in Bharat and his experience of working with Salman Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar. Read his interview below.
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat is all set to release soon. The film is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and stars Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff, Sunil Grover and Tabu in pivotal roles. Jackie Shroff has worked with Salman Khan after a long time. In an EXCLUSIVE interaction with Pinkvilla, we asked Jackie Shroff about how was the experience of collaborating with Salman after a long time. The actor had a sweet reply and told us, "It was like meeting myself after so long."
What was the reason that made him say yes to this Ali Abbas Zafar's film? Shroff shared, "First of all, it's Salman Khan Productions. When I was working in a film called Falak, Salim Sahaab was writing the dialogues. I've seen him grow from there. I've taken his picture around to show it to different people so that he will get a job. I thought he was a good looking boy and he should be able to make it and he did. The first film that he got, not much was said about it though. "
He added, "I have some kind of soft corner for our little boy Salman and when he sent Ali, I didn't know it was his or Salman's idea to cast me, I didn't ask. I've seen Ali work with Salman in Sultan so I thought it was a great combination. So usually, they use me as an emotional thread, maybe the spine of the film like they did in Dhoom 3 where there was a father-son connection. I thought the father-son connection with Salman will be superb. So there are many reasons I did the film."
The Devdas actor also praised director Ali Abbas Zafar and said, "The film is superb, the script is great my role is nice, so how could I say no? And working with Ali was a good experience as he is a very unassuming boy. But the canvas that he draws on screen is something to watch. He is brilliant."
Jackie Shroff plays Salman Khan's father in Bharat. We asked him to tell us more about his character's equation with Salman's Bharat and he said, "My character is of a station master. It's a beautiful cameo. It's a very heavy and emotional thread. It's a fantastic affection of a son who is obedient and takes his father's word like a holy book."
Bharat will hit the screens on June 5, 2019.
