Post Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor will be seen in Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu and will play the role of a lawyer. The movie delves into the issue of highly priced electricity bills which has become a common problem for the citizens.
Earlier, there were reports suggesting that the film was titled as Roshini. Today, we got a change to talk to Batti Gul Meter Chalu's director and asked why he opted for this title and NOT Roshini. Replying to our query, he told us, "The concept we are working on, I felt this title is apt. I wasn't getting the vibes from Roshini. Well, we were also looking for a quirky title just like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. With Roshini, people wouldn't have understood the crux as it might also look like the story is about a girl which is not true."
We also asked about his meeting with Shahid. On these lines, he told us, "Shahid is fantastic. He liked the idea and when he met me and he agreed for the movie within five minutes. Our equation is really good. Shahid is playing a lawyer in the film."
The film's teaser was released on Diwali. "The subject of the film is very relevant to our times. Diwali makes it just the right occasion for us to shed light on a subject that needs to be discussed. We look forward to making a film that is both commercially entertaining and encourages a social conversation," said Shree Narayan Singh.
