EXCLUSIVE - Haseena Parkar's Siddhanth Kapoor: I don't want to play a cliche, six-pack abs hero
Siddhanth Kapoor in an exclusive interview with PINKVILLA spoke about working with Shraddha Kapoor in Haseena Parkar and more.
Siddhanth Kapoor made his acting debut in Bollywood with Sanjay Gupta's Shootout at Wadala in the year 2013. Now, after four years, he is all set to be seen as one of the most dreaded criminals of the world, Dawood Ibrahim in the film Haseena Parkar, where his sister Shraddha Kapoor is playing the titular role.
During an exclusive interaction with PINKVILLA, Siddhanth was asked about his experience of playing Dawood on the big screen. To which he replied, "I normally saw it as a character. For an actor playing biographical roles like Dawood Ibrahim or Milkha Singh or Neerja, are like playing characters in a film - be it positive or negative. I took it in a different way and as a challenge. So many actors have played it before, so how different can I make it and more convincing to the public. "
He spoke about doing extensive research for his character by attending workshops, a lot of reading and also by Internet scouting. Siddhanth also said that he watched a lot of gangster films to make it look original and to keep himself in Dawood.
The actor will be sharing screen space with his sister Shraddha for the first time and he called it a dream come true. He further said, "We have had a lot of fun off the set because the film was intense. There were a lot of emotional breakdowns which took place between us. But we had a lot of funny moments which made the whole experience quite a riot. When we were shooting we had fun and when we weren't we had loads of fun."
When asked about his approach towards a scene with Shraddha, Siddhanth added, "It came out very naturally as we know we are brother and sister in real too. We both are actors and have done a lot of nautanki when we were children in front of our parents, so it was quite easy."
When quizzed about director Apoorva Lakhia, the handsome actor said, "He is amazing when it comes to gangster films and being an actor's director. He is a great guy and is very talented. He has got a lot of Hollywood in him."
His last few films namely Shootout at Wadala, Ugly, Jazbaa and now Haseena Parkar have shown him with characters having grey shades. So, does Siddhanth wish to play a positive character? To which he replied, "My next film is Paltan where I am playing my first ever positive character, an army person!"
When asked about what he sees while being approached for a film, Siddhanth said, "I look into a film which is not normal and is out of my comfort level. Something which people won't imagine me playing because I am very soft and sensitive in real life."
He concluded by saying, "I only do selected characters. I don't want to play a cliche, six-pack abs hero."
