Sairat, directed by Nagraj Manjule, did wonders at the box office - a simple story but with a wider reach. Audiences fell in love with how the story was portrayed on the big screen. After the success of the film, Karan Johar took the right of the film for the Hindi remake. The movie has been in limelight as it would mark the debut of Sridevi's daughter Jhanvi Kapoor and would also star Shahid Kapoor's brother Ishaan Khattar.

The Hindi remake will be directed by Shashank Khaitan. Today, the reports came that Karan had apparently asked for help from Nagraj Manjule to give guidance to Shashank for the remake, but he had refused to come on board for the same.

According to a report in a leading daily, a source said, "When you are launching Sridevi’s daughter you can’t have the heroine playing a village girl. Jhanvi will be clothed in the best and shot in the most eye-catching locales."

When we contacted the director, he rubbished the news. He said, "From where are these reports coming from? I feel it's a joke because we didn't have a conversation about this. And any sensible person would help if he has been asked to. I have never met Karan Johar, but I would love to meet him and I love his movies. This is untrue."

The movie's music would be composed by Ajay-Atul who did music for Dharma Productions' Agneepath.

It would be interesting to see how Shashank directs the story.
