EXCLUSIVE: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan opt out of Gulab Jamun?
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were to reunite on-screen after 8 years with Gulab Jamun. But, the couple has decided to opt out of the film.
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who last worked together in Raavan, were all set to reunite on the big screen for Sarvesh Mewara’s Gulab Jamun. Both Abhishek and Aishwarya has confirmed the same during their media interactions in 2018. “AB [Abhishek] and I have agreed to do Gulab Jamun. I told AB that he needs to decide what he wants to do after Manmarziyan. The script was offered a year and half back. We had agreed on the idea then. However, it was around the same time that AB decided to take time-out. After the hiatus, he returned with Manmarziyan, which coincidentally is directed by Anurag Kashyap. That's when the chatter around Gulab Jamun began again, and we finally came on board. It’s a beautiful script and we fit the narrative perfectly,” Aishwarya had quoted to a tabloid.
Later, Abhishek had exclusively revealed to us about the project. He had said, “Gulab Jamun is a very sweet script which Sarvesh Mewara has written and he is going to be directing it. It's the film we both liked very much and we both really want to do. When we will be doing it, we haven't decided.” Now, a source in the know has revealed to us that the Bachchan couple has opted out of the film and an official announcement is soon going to follow.
“Abhishek and Aishwarya were keen to do the film. But they had suggested certain changes too. While things were being worked out, the two seem to have had a change of mind. And now they have decided to not be a part of this movie,” reveals a source.
Adds another source close to the actors, “Why Abhishek and Aishwarya have decided to not do this project isn’t known yet. But the stars have conveyed it to the team that they would no longer be doing this film.”
Well, only time will tell as to what went wrong with this project.
Meanwhile, all the Aishwarya-Abhishek fans will have to wait some more to see their favourite Jodi on the big screen!
