EXCLUSIVE - Abhishek Bachchan on Bunty Aur Babli 2: Aditya Chopra was very keen to do the sequel
During an EXCLUSIVE interaction with Pinkvilla, Abhishek Bachchan spoke at length about his 20015 hit film Bunty Aur Babli and answered if the sequel for the film is on the cards.
A couple of weeks back, Pinkvilla EXCLUSIVELY revealed that the sequel to the 2005 hit film Bunty Aur Babli is in talks and is likely to go on floors in the month of November, this year. The film starred Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead roles along with Amitabh Bachchan. Talking about it, a source had stated to us, "Bunty Aur Babli sequel has been on cards for quite some time now. But it was only recently that the things were taken forward. Aditya Chopra himself is looking into this and the pre-production work has already started."
The source further said, "Both Rani and Abhishek are more than keen to do this project and have given their nod for it. However, it won’t be directed by Shaad Ali. Who is helming this sequel is still not revealed. But the plot has been finalised and the shoot schedule is being planned. If everything works out well, then the movie will tentatively go on-floors in November, this year."
When we caught up with Abhishek for an EXCLUSIVE interaction, we asked him if he has been approached for the sequel of Bunty Aur Babli. AB replied, "When Bunty Aur Babli first released in 2005, you know Adi, the producer was very keen to do the sequel. But he said he didn't have a story right now. So, I know at that point in time there was a talk and would he like to make a sequel? I am sure he would. But, until he doesn't find a story, I don't think you should believe in any reports. Traditionally with Adi what happens is, the sequels be Dhoom or any other film, he will message me and say, 'I have cracked it and we are going to start'. I still haven't got that message from him. Until he tells me that, it's not correct for me to confirm any rumour because I have to wait until Adi tells me that the film is happening."
On being asked if Aditya and he discussed the film in recent time, Junior Bachchan said, "At that point of time when it first released we did. But then he kept saying, 'Look, I haven't been able to find a story', so we never discussed it after that."
