Prernaa Arora: Sara Ali Khan is surely going to be a star
Film Producer and co-owner of KriArj Entertainment, Prernaa Arora, in an exclusive interview with us, gets candid about her projects.
Prernaa Arora - she has that never-back-down attitude and with that - she is reaching great heights. With her correct sense of judgement and marketing skills, she has made it to the second largest money-minting industry, Bollywood, in such a short span of time. From collaborating with experts like Anushka Sharma, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham for films, KriArj Entertainment Pvt. Ltd is at the top of its game. Talking about their work, as Prernaa, herself puts it, "I am very much inclined to making films which deliver an important message and we could talk about a noble cause." Be it Rustom or Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, the films do touch upon subjects which have a mass connect and have an important message to give out.
Prernaa is currently busy with her upcoming project, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha which is being directed by Shree Narayan Singh. The trailer has been appreciated well and people are eagerly waiting for the film to hit the screens. Ask her how does she feel after getting such a response, she told us, "I am extremely delighted. First of all, after Rustom, this is our second film with Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey. It's an overwhelming moment for us as it has been appreciated. People are connecting to it and also we are proud that an important message is going out to the people as it's about PM Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat campaign. It's a contribution by Akshay sir as an actor to the country. We are delighted to be a part of the film."
Prernaa, in such a short span of time, has made a mark. We asked her, was it difficult to deal with all the filmmakers and A-listers as they have so many projects in hand. On these lines, she explained the whole procedure to us - "What happens is that people think that we are doing so many films, but it's not really that - we have divided our work and I am working with experts and companies like Clean Slate - these are production houses. It's a set of people coming together. KriArj Entertainment - we look into the business aspect. We have John sir as a partner, we have Anushka and Akshay sir as partners. We are learning from the experts. It's not that difficult as we are not doing everything ourselves. We never interfere in other's work as producers. Right now, we have managed to finish three films already and two films would be done by August. It's all because of the efficiency of our partners."
Not just Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, KriArj Entertainment Pvt. Ltd has one more offering and have collaborated with John Abraham for Parmanu. The film is based on Pokhran-II, the series of five nuclear bomb test explosions conducted in the Rajasthan town in 1998. But what really intrigued us was the fact that why she chose such a subject. Speaking about it, she said, "First of all, it's one of the biggest events which happened in India and it's in public domain. I am very much inclined to make a film which delivers an important message and we could talk about a noble cause. Every film can be interesting but it should be meaningful too. It has to be a complete blend of commerce and creativity."
It's not the first time that John has taken the route of being a producer. He did a brilliant job with Madras Cafe. Ask her, how is he as a producer? Prernaa, elaborating on it, stated, "John as a producer is pretty choosy - in a way - that he would not jump into anything soon. It takes a lot of time for him to produce a film. Parmanu is a subject which is something like he did for Madras Cafe as a producer. He is working very hard as a producer to get everything right. We have great synergy coming in and we are like-minded in terms of our approach. He is not egoistic and kind. He gives the freedom of looking into the marketing of the film."
Next on the list is Anushka Sharma's Pari. Anushka's look came out and well, it has left us with many questions as in the picture, she is lying all bruised. The poster is surely not for faint-hearted. Talking about the film, she exclusively told us, "The credit goes to Anushka and her brother Karnesh who is our partner for choosing an extraordinary subject. I saw NH10 as an audience and what she did for Phillauri was also experimental. She adds freshness and she chooses a different. Pari is something that Karnesh has nurtured. It has been a great journey with the two of them and we will be working on more projects."
A lot has been speculated about the plotlines and it has generated curiosity in fans. On these lines, we asked her about the character of Anushka. She giggled and told us, "This is one film that we are keeping under wraps. Let the film talk. We are releasing the film in February and the trailer should be out by December. I can promise that the audience will be surprised."
KriArj Entertainment is on roll as the list of projects are never ending. They have associated with Balaji Telefilms Ltd for Kedarnath which is being directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The film has been in news for the fact that Sara Ali Khan is making her Bollywood debut. We asked her that is she excited that Sara is onboard for the film. She told us, "Sara, when we came onboard for Kedarnath, she was already on board as an actor. The director had the script and he approached Sara for the role before we came in their producer partners. Making a collaborative launch for Sara is supremely big for us as she is very promising. Whenever I have seen her, she has that spark in her face and she is going to be a star. Nothing's going to stop her as she is promising."
As the film is set against the backdrop of pilgrimage, we asked about Sara's look in the film. She didn't really reveal much but did give us some hint. She told us, "Like, we say the film is a love story set in the backdrop of a pilgrimage and the director is the ideal one to talk about the creative. We wouldn't comment on it at this stage but I can tell this much as it would have authenticity and a traditional vibe to it. We are talking about Kedarnath - it's Indian in mind and it's going to be a love saga."
She also told us about her experience of meeting Sara. "I met with Sara and I felt she is beautiful and very humble and it's the humility of a person that attracts you to someone. She has no air about the fact that she is Amrita and Saif's daughter. She is extremely intelligent," said Prernaa.
Next in pipeline for KriArj Entertainment is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anil Kapoor's Fanney Khan. The film is being produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, KriArj Entertainment and T-Series. The movie is being helmed by debutante director Atul Manjrekar.
We asked her about her experience of meeting Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. With zeal and excitement, she told us, "Meeting Aishwarya was a breathtaking moment. It was a dream to work with her. She is a dream actor and she accepted to come onboard on the merits of the script."
KriArj Entertainment has also teamed up with Vishal Bhardwaj for his next which features Deepika Padukone and Irrfan in the lead roles.
With so many projects in hand, does Prernaa get time for herself? Well, then the answer is - "Right now, I don't have free time and I don't want it. I am just thinking about my films. It's like climbing a mountain and there comes a point that you have to sustain that you have achieved. I have restlessness in my head. Toilet is currently the focal point."
After talking about her projects, we decided to ask about her go-to designers as she is pretty trendy and knows how to present herself well. Divulging into it, she said, "Christian Dior and Gucci. For me, Gucci is number one as they have completed changed the positioning of what Gucci was and now what it is. They have again connected with youth. If I talk about designers, it's again business - how they have completely changed the outlook. Fashion is changing so much and it's similar to the current trend in the film as we need something fresh."
At the end, we asked her who's next on her wishlist? "Of course, Shah Rukh Khan. I am a die-hard fan of SRK. Even Akshay sir, we would want to work with him in 100 more films as he promotes new talent and he supports hard work. If you talk about Khans, it has to be SRK and I want to do a romantic film with him," she said and signed off.
