EXCLUSIVE: Anushka Sharma on 25 years of Shah Rukh Khan: It's important to reinvent yourself as an actor; he is constantly trying to do that in his films
As Shah Rukh Khan completed 25 years in Bollywood today, Anushka Sharma spoke at length about what she admires about him the most.
It's been 25 years since Shah Rukh Khan forayed into Bollywood. The actor made his debut in the year 1992 with the film Deewana and there was no turning back for this superstar. Shah Rukh has been ruling the hearts of his fans for more than two decades and is continuing in doing so.
He is one of the actors who makes sure to maintain an amazing rapport and relationship with his co-stars. Whenever one gets a chance, his colleagues never stop praising him for his work and also for the person he is.
Today, as he completes 25 years in Bollywood, we asked his co-star of three films Anushka Sharma about the best quality she likes of SRK. To which the stunning beauty stated, "Shah Rukh Khan is very upfront and honest. He is completely focused on his film while on set giving it his best and interacting with everyone from his co-star to the unit without any airs. I admire this about him."
Furthermore, she spoke about what makes him so special and successful in the industry by saying, "For me what makes Shah Rukh really special is his professionalism. Apart from that, actually the way he is with you as a co-actor. Especially me being a newcomer in my first film, he would help me out in situations where I didn't understand the technicality of filmmaking like being on set and giving your focus marks to the cameramen and many other things. It can be quite irritating for someone who has already been there for so many years. For example, the cameramen used to get really irritated with me as I would not understand other technicalities. But Shah Rukh used to be really really patient and he would, in fact, help me out by giving my focus marks for me and put me on the right mark when I had to act. To take the responsibility of ensuring that he designs the shot in such a way that he takes the responsibility of making both of us reach the right mark and so that the scene, it happens properly. And he always does that, even today he does it."
Anushka added, "I think he is selfless in that way as an actor; is something I am very grateful for and will respect him for the same."
So how has King Khan evolved as an actor and Sharma replied, "See what is really great and one thing I give him a lot of credit and respect for is despite having been here for so many years and having done so many films, even now at this stage in his career, when he is such a huge star, he wants to do different things and reinvent himself. He will do a film which is different and work with directors who are known to make certain kind of films and he is constantly trying to do something different with his characters. Picking up the kind of films of directors he knows will be able to give it a different flavour for what he has done before. Case in point is Imtiaz Ali's film, Aanand L. Rai's film and even FAN with Maneesh Sharma. I think this kind of speaks a lot about how he is as an artist and I really respect that about him. He takes those chances and plunges, I always tell him also that I really admire that he does that because it is very important to continue to reinvent yourself as an actor and he is constantly trying to do that in his films."
