While you were watching the trailer, a girl was raped somewhere in the country. Time to think. Time to act - Maatr Trailer

Raveena Tandon is making a comeback with her upcoming film, Maatr and this time stronger than ever. The film deals with the subject of rape. Set in Delhi, the capital of our country, Maatr tells us a hard-hitting tale of Vidya aka Raveena who is battling the powerful forces after her daughter Tia was brutally murdered. The trailer also shows us the glimpses of the how the judiciary functions when such cases are reported.

Well, every film has to pass through the scissors of CBFC. Earlier, this week, there were reports going viral that the members of CBFC walked out from the screening mid-way claiming that the content shown on screen is different from what script offered to portray.

Now, there are rumours that CBFC has banned the film. According to reports, sources close to CBFC have reasons to reject the film as it has graphic violence against women and the cuss words are all over scattered in the film.

Pahlaj Nihalani, CBFC Chief went on to say that they have done as much they could for the film and opened the office on a non-working day to review Maatr. After the reports went viral, we contacted Raveena to know the truth behind them. She texted us back saying, "Censor Board is bound by archaic laws which need to change according to the times we are living in. Maatr is story that needs to be told - enough of sugar-coating harsh realities... We will continue to remain indifferent to the brutality and Rape will remain a taboo in our society."

Written by Michael Pellico and directed by Ashtar Sayed,  Maatr is set to hit the theatres on April 21, 2017.

Will the film see the daylight of the theatres or not? What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below!
