Have you been waiting for Baahubali : The Conclusion or Baahubali 2 to know the mystery of why did Kattappa kill Baahubali? It's just 28 days left for the film to finally hit the theatres. Baahubali : The Conclusion, which boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj, will release on April 28, this year.

Going by the buzz around Baahubali: The Beginning, fans were hoping that the film might have en-cashed a lot of money, but to much shock, it didn't make any profit. Producer Shobu Yarlagadda, at the trailer launch of Baahubali: The Conclusion, said, "The first part we didn't make any money that much I can tell you. The second one we will make a lot of money which will compensate for what we didn't make in the first part. The budget of both the parts together is around INR 450 crore."

Post such a revelation, we thought to get in touch with trade analyst and writer, Sreedhar Pillai, who gave us a breakdown of all the figures related to the film.

Music Rights for Baahubali 2: INR 5 crore

Satellite Rights for Hindi (Baahubali 2): INR 51 crore

Satellite Rights for Telugu (Baahubali 2): INR 27 crore

Theatrical Rights in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerela (Baahubali 2): INR 102 crore

Overseas Rights (Baahubali 2): INR 65 crore

Budget of Baahubali - The Beginning and Baahubali - The Conclusion: INR 450 crore

Theatrical Rights of Baahubali - The Beginning: INR 250 crore

Talking about the marketing for Baahubali, Pillai said, "They are marketing it in a way that both the part 1 and 2 are covered and it should have begun the deal for theatrical rights in Northern India and it's done on a profit sharing business with Karan Johar. It should have easily recovered more than INR 200 crore by now as satellite rights are of INR 78 crore and overseas they have sold the rights for  $10 million."

When we asked about the estimated business for the film, he stated, "It has a potential of doing INR 500 crore and that is including theatrical and satellite. They have already sold the satellite rights for INR 78 crore. It must have done INR 400 crore pre-sold business."

Will Baahubali 2 do better than Baahubali?

"At the end of the day, Part I did extremely well and the kind of collections you have in Southern India are far better than Northern India. Basically, it's a Telugu film and they have a huge market," Sreedhar added.

Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?

Expressing his views in a lighter vein and giggled while answering, "It's a marketing strategy to create the buzz for the movie."

Not just Sreedhar Pillai, Akshaye Rathi (Film exhibitor and Distributor) is also of the same view that Baahubali 2 has recovered a major chunk of the money they spent. He told us, "They have significantly earned more than INR 250 crore out of the first film and this is in the terms of theatrical rights and the satellite was altogether different. The expense that they have done on both the films are still to be recovered and I think that's like INR 100 crore which will be done in four to five days of its release. Hindi theatrical rights for Baahubali 2 is INR 65 crore. Not just Karan Johar, everyone related to Baahubali will mint money."

Will Baahubali 2 alone earn more than INR 500 crore at the Indian box office? Let us know in the comments below!
