Ae Dil Hai Mushkil created waves with its music and The Breakup Song by Jonita Gandhi has become one of the popular numbers. The song celebrates breakup and because of its unusual theme, the song got even more traction for the film.

In a candid conversation with PINKVILLA, Jonita shared her experience of singing the song. She said, "Well, obviously it feels amazing. I think this is probably the most fun song I have sung, so far, in the industry and I am receiving a lot of love from everyone and people are sending in videos of them dancing to the song and are sharing dubsmash videos. Singers are singing a cover version of the song and I myself started with cover versions of the popular song and it feels amazing when people sing cover versions of the song you have sung and your voice reaches to the global audience and thanks to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil."

"The experience was such that I didn't know that I was singing the song. First, when I listened to the lyrics, I just laughed and I thought it was hilarious and who sings this for a breakup and in that melody which was so happy. I was like what's happening and then I thought, it'll be like a dance song. I sang it and my favourite line was 'jinko mil na paaye unko WhatsApp kardiya'. I thought it was so funny and it took me a minute to figure it out. No, I have never met Ranbir, Aishwarya and Anushka even if I was singing for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil," added Jonita.

The 27-year-old singer made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan's film Chennai Express. Talking about it, she said, "I remember that day when Chennai Express music was launched and I met Shah Rukh for the fist time. Everyone was at the stage together and I whispered something in his ear and I said I'm such a fan and I have grown up in Canada watching all your movies and someone took a photo of it and the picture became epic and I got a lot of attention and people were like who the hell is this chick talking to Shah Rukh Khan. Of course, if you are associated with big names, more people will get to know you. My debut in Shah Rukh Khan's film did help my career."

When asked that who would she want to sing for - her answer was simple, she said, "I would want to sing for Deepika Padukone. Though I sang for Chennai Express, but the song was used in the background."
