Exclusive: “Ranbir’s shooting starts only on the 9th, he has come early for my birthday" Rishi Kapoor
Rishi Kapoor celebrates his 62nd birthday today (Sep 4). Except for his daughter, Riddhima (Kapoor Sahani), the entire Kapoorkhandaan is currently holidaying in London. “It is such a beautiful feeling now that even Ranbir has joined us, he came to London yesterday morning,” said an excited Rishi from London.
The Kapoors - the matriarch Krishna Raj Kapoor, her three sons Randhir, Rishi(with wife Neetu) and Rajeev and two daughters Reema and Ritu, their husbands, children...and so on, left for a 3-week Mediterranean cruise some time early to mid-August. And just before he left for the cruise, Rishi shot an episode of Comedy Nights With Kapil and headed straight for the airport.
Talking about his birthday celebration in London, Rishi said, “A very dear friend of mine hosted dinner for us yesterday (Sep 3) and I plan to take the entire family for lunch today (Sep 4).”
He continued, “It is a superb family get together. We are relaxing, kind of unwinding here. And then there is Janmashtami coming up on the 5th, which makes the occasion more auspicious. We will make an attempt to go to Hare Rama Hare Krishna Temple over here. Just that I am missing my daughter but then she couldn’t come with us because of my granddaughter’s school.”
While the family will be back in Mumbai after the birthday celebrations, Ranbir will stay back in London and get busy with the shoot of Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” from the 9th. “Ranbir’s shooting starts only on the 9th, he has come early for my birthday,” said the father.
Recalling his birthday celebration during his hey days, Rishi said, "It would just be normal, nothing special". “I would have my meals and drinks with family and friends. The best way to celebrate is to be with the family,” he said. “And every year is special. Location doesn’t matter,” he added.
So what is Neetu, Ranbir and other family members gifting him? “Oh, I find that so childish.
