Will Eklavya be withdrawn from Oscars?
After receiving a letter from the Academy Awards, Vinod Pande, the chairman of the selection committee of the FFI, the official body for the selection of films to the Oscars, has called an emergency meeting today to discuss the selection of 'Eklavya' as this year's official entry from India in foreign film category.
The selection of 'Eklavya' led to controversy created by Bhavna Talwar's filing an appeal in court, the decision of which is being awaited. The Academy has asked the FFI to reconsider its decision immediately, as the deadline is approaching fast. It is likely that the verdict of the court will come after the deadline and the Academy's decision to consider 'Eklavya' as India's entry can't wait that long. Will 'Eklavya' remain the official entry or will India drop itself out from this year's Oscars Awards?
