Teji Bachchan passes away
Amitabh Bachchan's mother passed away at Leelavati hospital on Friday, December 21, 2007. She was 92 years old. She had been ailing continuously for the last four years and had been in and out of the hospital since December 2003. For short stretches, she used to return home but always got readmitted a few days later.
For the last three years, Bachchan Sr always took care that at least one member of the Bachchan family would be present in Mumbai in case of any emergency. Amitabh himself would visit the hospital every morning at 9 am and then proceed for shooting. He also did not attend the premiere of The Last Lear his first English film as he did not wish to travel abroad while his mother was critically ill.
The funeral will take place at 11:00 AM at the Juhu crematorium.
