Sonam Kapoor at the launch of flagship store of Masaba Gupta
Actress and youth icon Sonam Kapoor inaugurated the first flagship store of designer Masaba Gupta, eponymously labeled ‘Masaba’, at Juhu, Mumbai on Saturday 20th November 2010. The stand alone store will host a diffusion line catering to women from the age group 25 – 50 years old.
Talking about the fashion line Masaba said “The silhouettes are no fuss, simple and commercially viable, yet of high cut and fashion. Dhotis , angarakhas, jumpsuits, ikat and silk sarees, shift dresses are some of the silhouettes that define ‘masaba-the label’. The colors are vibrant with patchwork playing a predominant role in most of my garments. The color pallette is vast with canary yellows, aubergines, paprika reds, bottle greens, deep aqua, all polished off with black and white. My trademark style is fierce & bold with a strong play of color and cut, but also traditionally rooted.”
Masaba also recently launched her bridal line called 'kaleera by masaba'. This line is an ode to true craftsmanship, a sequence-free line containing antique gold work polished with motis, perfect for a sangeet or a mehndi ceremony
