Saawariya premiere…the good, the blah and the ugly!!!

Hey ladies, sorry we’ve been missing in action.. but it was Diwali…we took an unplanned break, and now we are back. So as we all know a lot has happened in Bollywood over the past weekend. Om Shanti Om and Saawariya had star studded premieres (well…Om Shanti Om just had their own stars.. .guess they didn’t need any more), and for us fashion fascinated folks (FFF.. sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it??), this was an awesome opportunity to see what’s hot in Bollywood these days.

So we totally believe that Bollywood, leads India in fashion, and what our stars are wearing today is usually a precursor to what we will be wearing tomorrow. Of course, not all stars are trend setters, some of them have a fashion sense that should just be …well…banned!!!

So here are some key takeaways from the fascinating premiere which nearly everyone (who is anyone in Bollywood) attended:

1, Manish Malhotra is out and Sabyasachi is in: So all the sequin stuff that Manish Malhotra made popular is definitely on it’s way out, and all the brocade and anarkali long kurtas made popular by Sabyasachi are in!! Now there are still some beautiful women wearing sequins (Suzanne Khan, Maheep Sandhu), but brocades and rich silks are hot right now.

2, Saris continue to be popular, specially with the thin border, and what everyone is calling the “fallen drape” (you know..the ‘pallu’ is a lower than worn traditionally, showing a lot of your blouse).

3, There’ll always be the blah and the ugly, in this case Sonali Kulkarni (a jumpsuit??? And that too a see through one… goodness!!!!), Amrita Rao (it’s a premiere, wear something glamorous babe..those gladiator style tie up sandals are too casual, besides they are cutting off your circulation girl!!!), and Alisha Chinai (the less said the better about that horrendous outfit!!! Just terrible!).

Having said that, we really enjoyed sifting through the pictures.. hope you enjoy it too…
