OSO Makes $19 Million Worldwide!
This news just in… Om Shanti Om has collected a massive $19 million worldwide in it’s first week.
The distributors of the Shah Rukh Khan comedy flick have released a statement in which they declare that Om Shanti Om has collected $13.5 million in India, £1.5 million in the UK, and $2 million plus in North America. These figures are for the first week collections on a staggering 1400 plus screens worldwide.
Eros International chairman and CEO Kishore Lulla said, “We are ecstatic with the audience as well as critics’ reactions to Om Shanti Om. It was one of the most awaited films of the year and we are excited that the magic combination of Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan has proved to be a huge success once again. The superb run of the film in the first week has superceded all expectations and we are confident of the film’s performance in the weeks to come.”
“We were expecting a commercial success but this kind of response has been overwhelming. It’s great that audiences as well as critics have appreciated the film. We had a lot of fun making this film and I am thrilled that audiences are having fun watching it too,” added Farah Khan.
The film opened in India to near 100% capacity audiences and is currently maintaining a steady 80-90%. If this continues, then Om Shanti Om will indeed become Shah Rukh Khan’s biggest hit ever.
