That's John Abraham in late 2005 and John's dream run was just about to begin. And sure enough John of all people knew it only too well. By then he had a super hit in Dhoom and even worked with Mira Nair in her critically acclaimed Water. And there was no way 2006 would be a bad year.
John Abraham forayed in filmdom in 2003 with hit film Jism. And although John was raw at that time, people liked him and he started getting offers. He was later seen in Saaya and Paap the same year. However, both films bombed and critics shunned him saying models can't act.
But the one movie that literally catapulted him into the A-league of actors was Dhoom. The film was a phenomenal success and John became a star. Garam Masala, Zinda and Taxi No 9211 followed. Indeed 2006 was a year like no other for John. With a cameo in Karan Johar's Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna and a critically acclaimed role in Kabul Express John had pretty much arrived in Bollywood.
This year however Salaam-E-Ishq, No Smoking and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal bombed miserably at the box office. But then again, with John Abraham the actor now being replaced by Brand John Abraham things such as these things need not necessarily bother him.
Sure enough then John, the brand these days is involved with PETA, has his own group called 'John's brigade for Habitat For Humanity', walks the ramps for a heavy price and endorses god-knows-how-many products. And just by the way, he is also doing Deep Mehta's Luna, Shriram Raghvan's Happy Birthday and Karan Johar's romantic-comedy.
