Once upon a time, any question to Aishwarya Bachchan would have elicited giggles.
Actually, that was before Ms Rai became Mrs Bachchan. Now, those girly giggles have been replaced by dignified smiles. And there is one more Bachchan trait that the bahu has adopted – of never giving any direct answer.
At a do in Delhi, when she was asked about her dress sense, which has become increasingly conservative, this is what the lady had to say, “The media sure keeps me on my toes. The way I look – good, bad or ugly, the way I talk, what I talk about, the way I stand, whether my hand is in front of my waist or if my dupatta is in front of my waist... just about everything is written about. Whatever I say or not say, I am surprised to see that it has become the headline the next day. So wow!” Uhh, and what about the question that she was asked? Well, your guess is as good as ours!
To illustrate how she is careful about her public image, she goes on to say, “I even watch my step so that there are no more rumours about me. Also, I only speak when I will be heard or when people cross the line of dignity. Otherwise, I wait for the smoke to settle,” she laughs, referring to speculations about her pregnancy.
But one topic that has Ash chirruping is husband Abhishek and his family. “This truly is the most special phase of my life. I am married to a very special person – Abhishek. I am glad that everybody likes him a lot. I have another set of parents now – Amitji and Jayaji are my Ma and Baba as well. Shweta di is a lovely sister to me. I am really happy,” she says.
