England vs Sri Lanka, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Twitter reacts as Sri Lanka upset hot favourites England

Sri Lanka staged a huge upset in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2019 as they beat hosts and favourites England by 20 runs on Friday. After opting to bat first, on a slow wicket, the Sri Lankans struggled to get 232 on the board after they were 3 for 2 at one stage. The innings was led by Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis, who made 49 and 46 respectively along with Angelo Mathews' brilliant knock of 85.

However, the target was always meant to be an easy one for the English who have some of the most dangerous batters in their ranks. Constant wickets though put them on the backfoot, and despite Joe Root's 57 and Ben Stokes' unbeaten 82, the Lankans, led by Lasith Malinga's 4-wicket haul won a nail-biter.
