England won their first World Cup trophy as they defeated New Zealand in the World Cup 2019 finals. The match, however was tied and it went to the Super Over. The Super Over was tied as well, and England won as they had hit more boundaries in the game.
New Zealand, batting first made 241, and the English team, despite fifties from Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler stuttered at the end, as the match ended in a tie.
In the Super Over - where both teams had one over each to bowl and bat and score as many runs - England, batting first, made 15 runs. Jofra Archer, the English bowler, kept his nerve to concede exactly 15 runs. As New Zealand slumped down in despair, the hosts celebrated their first title.
