After back-to-back defeats against Sri Lanka and Australia, England bounced back strongly to win against an unbeaten Indian side at Birmingham on Sunday. They will now take on New Zealand in a must-win encounter in what will be the 41st match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The winner of this game will automatically find a place in the semis whereas the losers will have to wait for some favorable results. New Zealand are the better equipped to progress to the semis even if they lose this game as they have a better Net Run Rate (NRR) than the other Asian sides who are still in contention for the semi-final spot.

For England, the return of Jason Roy at the top of the order gave them a big boost as he single-handedly took on the Indian spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. Also, some aggressive hitting by Ben Stokes in the final stages of the innings helped England push their total to 337. In the bowling department, Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett played a key role in the 31 run victory against India.

On the other hand, New Zealand are heading into this game after consecutive losses against Pakistan and Australia. Their batting has been heavily reliant upon Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor to constantly deliver the goods as Colin Munro, Tom Latham and Martin Guptill have not been able to produce match-winning efforts. In the bowling department, Trent Boult has been the shining star and he could be the bowler who could pose a serious threat to the English batters with his seam movement.
