The Indian cricket team, who were unbeaten in the tournament, faced their first defeat against England on Sunday, July 30 by 31 runs. By defeating the Men in Blue, the hosts were successful in keeping their semi-finals hope alive in the tournament. This will be an important encounter for the Eoin Morgan side to remain at the top four. Let’s have a look at their key players.

1. Ben Stokes- This English all-rounder has played a vital role for the team in pressure situations. He smashed a solid 89 runs against Australia where the team collapsed and lost by 64 runs. Against the Men in Blue, along with Jonny Bairstow’s spectacular century, it was Stokes’ explosive innings of 79 runs off 54 deliveries that helped the team set up a huge target of 337. England definitely has a better depth in their batting which will provide them an extra edge in this must win clash of the tournament.

2. Jofra Archer- Along with an exceptional batting line-up, the team also consists of a solid bowling department with Jofra Archer ranking third in the highest wicket-takers list so far in the tournament. Archer has managed to claim 16 wickets till now and is only behind Mitchell Starc and Lockie Ferguson in the list. However, in the team’s previous match against the Men in Blue, Archer went wicket-less and bowled with an economy of 4.50. It will be interesting to see how this English bowler restricts the Kiwi batsmen to a low score today at Riverside.
