England’s Jofra Archer reveals how Ben Strokes helped him in the super over of the World Cup 2019 Final

Jofra Archer who bowled the super over for England revealed that it was Ben Stokes’ words of wisdom that helped him in the final. "I think it was going fine until the six; Stokes told me before the over 'win or lose, today doesn't define you. Everyone believes in you',” Archer told the reporters after the big final.

Ben Stokes was also named the Player of the match and he smashed an unbeaten 84 off 98 deliveries, being the highest run-scorer for the team. However, back in 2016, in the T20 World Cup played against the Windes, Stokes conceded three consecutive sixes against Carlos Brathwaite which eventually resulted in England’s defeat. Talking about that incident, Archer said that Stokes came to talk to him because of that as he probably went through the same emotions and feelings but on the losing side.

"If we had lost today, I don't know what I would have done tomorrow. To back up what he said, if we did lose there's a T20 (World Cup) next year and I'd have another chance,” Archer added. He also mentioned that Joe Root came up to him and said some inspirational words as well. He also added that he was aware that if the team lose, it wasn’t the end of the world and said that he is glad that the guys look up to him and trust him to do it.
