Why does Bollywood have this many award shows?
This must be on the minds of every bollywood fan by now. Why in the world do we have so many award shows. I dont stay in India but I am an avid Bollywood fan. I follow every event and every news of my favorite star. But offlate i am disgusted with the sad state of Bollywood and its needless awards. Gone are the days when one was glued to the TV sets to watch the Filmfare awards to know who won the best actor/actress for that year. Today we have around 10 award functions , yet not one award is credible. I always felt Screen awards were fair until i saw the fiasco they did this year.
Why is everything in India about making money/TRPs?. Doesnt anyone want to truly celebrate Bollywood,the second largest movie industry in the world. Why do the organizers want to keep everyone happy? Where is the true cinema?.
What is the solution to this?. My take - The whole awards should be based on public voting run by an independent body not linked to any production houses or media companies.
