Sidharth replaces Imran Khan in 2 projects
After a poor run at the box office with 'Matru Ki Bijlee Mandola', 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara!' and 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein', producers have been hesitant to sign Imran Khan for films.
Imran Khan was meant to star in 'Bhavesh Joshi' (directed By Vikramaditya Motwane), but was quickly dropped from the project post the debacle of GTPM. Sidharth Malhotra has replaced him in the project which is said to be a social-drama about a rebel, and not a superhero film as previously reported. Imran Khan is said to have opted out due to the pregnancy of his wife, Avantika.
The second film in question is Shakun Batra's next project. Imran Khan and Shakun are close friends and have worked with each other in 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu'. Shakun was keen to approach Imran for his next project, a film about a dysfunctional family, that is said to star Farhan Akhtar. Imran Khan was approached to play Farhan's brother, but suddenly Sidharth Malhotra was signed for it!
Incidentally Ekta Kapoor and him had a tiff over OUATIMD, which cost him 'Milan Talkies' too.
Imran's current projects on hand include 'Biryani' with Sonam Kapoor and a love story with Ileana D'cruz (directed by Nikhil Advani).
