Brother of legendary actors Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor and son of Prithviraj Kapoor, iconic star Shammi Kapoor celebrate his 87th birthday anniversary today. If he was alive today, Shammi Kapoor would have turned 87 on October 21, 2018. The legendary Bollywood actor Shammi Kapoor ruled our hearts from the 1960s to the 1970s with blockbusters hits like Dil Deke Dekho, "An Evening in Paris", Bramhachari, Singapore, Junglee, College Girl, Professor and China Town among many. The legend began his film career at the age of 22 and has worked with actresses like Madhubala, Meena Kumari and Nutan. However, he got success only four years after he made it to the film industry.
Shammi Kapoor’s personal and love life had always been in the limelight. In 1955, the actor married actress Geeta Bali in an impromptu ceremony. The actor married twice, once to Geeta Bali, who passed away due to smallpox. He had two kids, Aditya Kapoor and Kanchan Kapoor with Geeta. Later, his second wedding was arranged by his family after which he tied a knot with Neila Devi. The Kapoor always described himself as "shaukeen" because he was fond of cars, clothes, dancing and a good life. Shammi Kapoor breathed his last on August 14, 2011 due to chronic renal failure but before that, his grandnephew Ranbir Kapoor convinced him to star in his film, Rockstar (2011).
