Priyanka Chopra nominated for World Music Awards!
Without a doubt, 2012 has been one of the most, if not the most, successful years for Priyanka Chopra in Hindi cinema. Priyanka has achieved not one but two Rs.100 crores hits with Agneepath and Barfi! as well as widespread critical acclaim for her sensitive portrayal of a patient with autism in Barfi! ( for which she has high chances of winning awards for at the major awards ceremonies in 2013). Barfi! was, also, selected as India's official entry to the Oscars adding yet another feather to Miss Chopra's cap.
If that was not enough, PC, also, made a successful foray into the international music scene - her debut single "In My City" (produced by Red One) featuring prominent music artist will.i.am was released earlier this year.
And now it seems Priyanka could be just a few steps away from being rewarded for her hard work by the prestigous World Music Awards.
A source has now revealed to that, “Her music has been liked a lot in the west. She has been nominated under three categories — Best Debut, Best Song and Best Video. Her collaboration with Will.i.am for ‘In my city’ has been received well.”
Priyanka will be competing for these awards against global music sensations, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Madonna.
The source says, “It’s a matter of pride for an Indian artiste to be recognised and nominated alongside some of the best names in the world. Priyanka is absolutely delighted.”
On being contacted, Priyanka’s spokesperson confirmed the news. Voting is now open on the World Music Awards website.
