Kareena begs Bhansali, Bhansali wants PC and DP
Kareen Kapoor and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali have come close to work with each other since the days of Devdas when he choose Aishwarya for the role of Paro and was followed by the infamous fall out between the two. She was approached again for Ram Leela, however things didn't work out.
Now sources close to both Kareena and Bhansali have revealed that Kareena is reaching out to him furiously. She insists on being cast in Bajiroa Mastani. However the director showed more interest in his Ram Leela star Deepika Padukone and Mary Kom starred Priyanka Chopra. This period love story— between Peshwa Baji Rao, an early 18th century Indian general, and Mastani, the brave, beautiful woman who would go on to become his second wife who isn't wanted by his family and his wife has been in the news for a long time. The original plan was to cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and Salman Khan for the three main leads. The director has made it more or less clear to Kareena that it’s unlikely she’ll be Mastani, but he’s open to offering her the role of Kashibai, Bajirao’s first and older wife. For Kareena, it’s Mastani or nothing. Bhansali, however has shown interest in Priyanka Chopra for this role. PC shares a great rapport with Deepika Padukone and Bhansali and owes him one for the Mary Kom biopic and the item number in Ram-Leela.
Aishwarya and Salman are not being considered anymore and talks with Shah Rukh Khan have also fizzled out. Hrithik Roshan has expressed interest, and his Ram-Leela leading man Ranveer Singh has told Bhansali he expects to be cast.
If Hrithik accepts the role it is likely the cast will exist of Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.
