Author and columnist Shobhaa De recently complimented Kangana Ranaut as ‘daring, individualistic, impetuous, spontaneous and....quite mad. De further went on to say, “It’s what makes her stand apart from the robotic, programmed, artificial ‘stars’ in the Bollywood firmament, those with far less talent but a great deal of nonsensical attitude.

Kangana lives up to her Bohemian, opinionated and straight talking avatar throughout the promotions of ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’. Be it tackling a silly question from a member of the press, to speaking her mind on the topic of marriage, Kangs, like her onscreen double avatars in this film, has asserted her individualistic personality throughout. Take a look at these Kanganisms...

Here are our top picks of Kangana’s candid comments during ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ promotions:

Will you dance at Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding?

On May 19, at an event in Mumbai, Kangana was asked if she would dance at her favourite actor Ranbir Kapoors’ wedding; or do a jig at her favourite cricketer Virat Kohli’s wedding. By asking this, tried to draw attention to some bitchy comments that Kangs expresses her fondness for both these committed men a bit too effusively.

While Madhavan looked and sounded exasperated with the question, Kangana first held her tummy and doubled over, to make fun of the question. After that, she retorted with a counter question: Are you making fun of me? Do I look simple minded to you?

Her reply didn’t just silence the reporter, but also got some applause.

On Marriage

While promoting this love story around a troubled marriage, Kangana has refreshingly expressed her opinion on marriages. In Kolkata, she stated that her take on marriage is often contradictory. Sometimes, she feels one needs a companion for life and at other times, she wonders wouldn’t an independent life be impacted by the pressures of marriage. She also said that it’s a relevant and arguable question- what is indeed the place of marriage or a man in the life of an independent, free thinking woman today. Kangana also reiterated a similar statement in Mumbai saying,
"It (marriage) is an individual choice... whether he or she wants to get married or not. I believe it should be a choice and not a compulsion. I think we should not pressurise girls or boys for their future, marriage or anything...what do you want to become in life...do you want to get married to how do you want to live.

On life’s struggle

Having won the National Film award for Best Actress in ‘Queen’, Kangana spoke her heart out in an interview to PTI. Acknowledging that despite being one of the world’s biggest film industries where everything looks beautiful, it hasn’t been easy to survive and find her footing in Bollywood. She said, “Today, for me getting good work is not a struggle. I have always been an outsider and that is not going to change. There was a time when getting work was a struggle, but not anymore. There are different levels of struggle, but not as intense as it was earlier for me,” Kangana told PTI. She also said that what others say about her doesn't matter beyond a point; else otherwise, she would be filled with self doubt.

When Kangana made Deepika call her

While Kangana didn't say this around the promotions of ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ she did put the spotlight on Deepika Padukone when she mentioned during a Rajeev Masand interview, that despite her contemporary dedicating an award to her during a film function, she had never called Kangana to speak to her personally. Deepika quickly made the phone call. Sometimes, she does get a little too candid, but in the end, her bluntness and taking the bull by the horns attitude actually keeps us entertained!
