"Aankhon mein teri ajeeb si ajeeb si adaayein hai."

Who can forget the queen-esque wave at the fans, the top bun, the kohl-rimmed eyes and that million dollar smile of Deepika Padukone which made millions like Shah Rukh Khan an instant fan of the beauty?

Deepika Padukone is amongst the leading actresses of the current generation with a career span of 10+ years to boast about. The actress was born on January 5, 1986, and made her big Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan Kunder's Om Shanti Om.

After Bachna Ae Haseeno, Deepika went through a rough phrase with a string of not so good movies, it was Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal that first showcased Deepika's raw talent as an actress.

Then there was Cocktail, in which Deepika played the larger than life character of Veronica and everyone fell in love with the gorgeous actress, not only for her good looks but her acting vulnerability as well. After that came 2013 and there was no looking back for the star.

2013 proved why Deepika is the true queen of Bollywood amongst the new generation as she starred in not one but four consecutive hits namely, Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. All these movies were backed by Deepika's innate performances which lured us to her charm and innocence.

If you want proof of why one raves so much about a Deepika Padukone performance; then watch the breakup scene between her and Ranbir Kapoor in Tamasha which will be evidence enough.

Over the years, and the countless accolades, Deepika decided that conquering Bollywood was not enough. She had to reach new heights and tried her hand at Hollywood. She starred opposite Vin Diesel as the "leading lady" in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, when most people were convinced that she would not have more than a 2-minute blink and miss appearance. She proved the naysayers wrong, stuck true to her Indian roots and kept her accent and killed it with her action avatar and badassness along with co-star Ruby Rose. We couldn't help but hoot and whistle at her like we would for a Salman Khan movie.

When Padmavati was announced, it was made clear that the titular role of the movie belonged to one Ms. Padukone and deservedly so! You know you are the STAR when you are the lead in a movie backed by actors like Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor who take the side glance for the Queen to shine.

While we all waited with bated breaths to see the marvel that was Padmavati on the big screen, we were left disappointed as protests against the "apparent" distortion of history took place and we had to end up waiting some more. What was worse, was the atrocities thrown at Deepika's way but like a true Queen, she rose and did not let it affect her. Despite the death threats and cutting off noses, Deepika persevered and stood tall which led to other actresses backing her up as well. While we wait for the release date of Padmavati minus the I, we can't help but call Deepika the true Queen of Bollywood.
