Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 Highlights: Arya Stark & Gendry hookup and Brienne of Tarth is knighted

The Game of Thrones fever has taken over the Monday Blues as episode 2 of season 8 aired today. The night is dark and full of terrors and this episode was like a calm breeze before the storm. We were welcomed to Winterfell with Jamie Lannister's trial and towards the end of the 54 minutes, we were left with a lot of feels. Finally, we got to see Arya Stark and Gendry hooking up and we also cried tears of joy as Brienne of Tarth became Ser Brienne of Tarth. 

Daenerys Targaryen is still at odds with Sansa Stark but the revelation by Jon Snow of his true heritage had the tables turned. Tyrion made light of the grim situation at hand and his sequences with the likes of Jamie, Brienne, Podrick Payne, Tormund Giantbane and Ser Davos was a delightful watch. Several other endearing moments include Sansa and Theon Greyjoy's emotional reunion and Podrick singing Jenny of Oldstones as everyone prepares for the battle against The Night King and his Dead Army.

1. Arya Stark and Gendry's Hook Up

This was a moment that all GOT fans have been waiting for and finally, we got Arya and Gendry's much-awaited hookup. It was the steaminess that we expected from them with Arya's sass queen in motion. The fact that this was the last thing she wanted to do if she were to die during the war, did not go unnoticed.

2. Jamie Lannister Knights Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne Sings Jenny of Oldstones

The most emotional moment of the night came when Jamie knighted Brienne and she became Ser Brienne of Tarth. Tyrion Lannister toasting Brienne was a nice touch while Podrick's magical voice crooning Jenny of Oldstones was the calm before the war.

3. Jon Snow Reveals The Truth to Daenerys Targaryen

Throughout the episode, Jon showed Dany a cold shoulder and we knew why. Towards the end of the episode, Jon finally reveals to Dany (in front of Lyanna Stark's crypt) that he is Aegon Targaryen. The shock on Dany's face was expected!

4. Jamie Lannister's Trial

The episode heated up immediately with Jamie's trial and while Tyrion tried his best to defend his brother and true best friend, ultimately, it was Brienne who saved him from Dany's punishing wrath.

5. The Confrontation Between Daenerys Targaryen and Sansa Stark

To watch two powerful women in a world of men is a sight indeed! To watch them have a battle of words? Even better! The truce attempt by Dany went sour when Sansa simply asked her, "What about the North?"

Special Mention: The reunion between Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy fluttered our heartstrings.
