Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor's big day is here as their Bollywood debut movie, Dhadak released today. The two star in the Hindi adaptation of the Marathi film, Sairat (2016).

Dhadak is directed by Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania director Shashank Khaitan while the project is co-produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Zee Studios.

A befitting tribute to Sairat

Shashank was given the unachievable task to recreate the magic of Sairat in Dhadak and the director has paid tribute to the film in a humble manner. Dhadak stays true to the essence of Sairat and yet it has its own individuality.

Ishaan and Janhvi's Chemistry

Ishaan and Janhvi's chemistry in Dhadak is undeniable. They have perfectly captured the naivety and intensity of young love and your heart goes out to them. Their earnest performances compliment each other.

Supporting Cast

It is the supporting cast who adds the right flavours to the movie. A special mention to Shridhar Watsar, who plays Purshottam, Madhu's sidekick. We could garner praises for Ashutosh Rana, but his flawless acting does not come as a surprise.

Music

Not too many songs at the right moments during the entirety of the film; the tracks range from a dancing number that will pump you up to a hauntingly romantic song that foreshadows impending doom.

Climax

Sairat was primarily known for its shocking climax and if you are wondering whether Dhadak manages to capture that same numbness, yes it does!
