Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Varun Dhawan: Celebs who hit back at trolls in 2017
From Priyanka Chopra to Deepika Padukone to Varun Dhawan, many celebs have received flak on social media.
Huge social media following comes with the additional burden of venomous remarks from strangers on the internet and our Bollywood actors are no exception to this. From Priyanka Chopra to Deepika Padukone to Varun Dhawan, many celebs have received flak on social media. However, the actors gave it back to the trolls in style - either with another photo to shut them up or a befitting reply to put their conservative mindset in its place.
1. Taapsee Pannu:

Recently, Taapsee Pannu shared a picture of her on Twitter and wrote, “Sometimes the best moments stay untouched, unedited and unused. Raw image.Screen grab.” In the picture, she’s seen clad in a short black and white tube dress. But to her dismay, she was trolled on Twitter for wearing the outfit.
"Due to such stuff male's attract to seduce girl. And harassment," one user wrote. Taapsee replied to the user: "Then those ‘male's' need to do something about their sickness, it's not about ‘such stuff'. By the way - get well soon."
Another user tried to take a jibe at Taapsee's post and asked her whether she doesn't have money to buy clothes or she likes doing skin show? On that, Taapsee strongly replied: "We are not finding protectors of the culture. I did this to find you, otherwise wouldn't have found a diamond like you. (Aap jaise culture ke rakshak nahi mil rahe sir ji. Identify karne ke liye aisa karna padha varna aap jaise heere kahan asaani se milte hai.)"
2. Varun Dhawan:

The Judwaa 2 actor recently shared a shirtless picture of himself from Budapest on Twitter and captioned it as, ‘’#varuninbudapest. Been training hard for this. Stunts, thrill and love.’’ His underwear, which was partly visible, set trolls in action. Some ridiculed him for posting such a snapshot, while others took potshots at his choice of brand. However, Varun replied like a boss and wrote, "Bahut comfortable or affordable hain bhai raja ko pasand hain."
3. Priyanka Chopra:

Priyanka Chopra recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Berlin. Soon after, the actress posted pictures of her meeting and called it a “lovely coincidence.” Trolls had a field day slut-shaming Priyanka by posting comments on her outfit, slamming her for dressing “inappropriately” and showing off her legs. Giving it back to trolls, Priyanka posted a too hot-to-handle-picture with her mom, Madhu Chopra and captioned it, “Legs for days.... #itsthegenes with @madhuchopra nights out in #Berlin #beingbaywatch.”

However, this isn't the first time that the actress has faced criticism. She was recently trolled for her visit to Jordan as UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador, where she interacted with children from Syria. Ravindra Gautam questioned her initiatives and pointed out the need for aid for children in India. Priyanka gave a stern response to the troll and wrote, ‘’Ive worked w/ @UNICEFIndia for 12 yrs&visited many such places. What have u done @RavindraGautam_ ?Y is 1 childs prob less imp than another?”
4. Esha Gupta:

Esha Gupta was recently in the headlines for sharing topless and nude pictures on her Instagram account. Many started trolling and demeaning the actress on social media. While talking to a leading daily, she hit back at the trolls and said, "In our country, women are eternally blamed. They are accused when a girl child is born, they are even accused even when they raped. So, somewhere I knew that I will also have to face a lot of heat. After all, it's easiest for some faceless and redundant people to pull a celebrity down at the first opportunity. I've done shoots like this one when I was a model. I've gone topless and naked, too. No one ever asked me about that. And who are these people who have `issues' with my pictures? It's my body and it's been shot aesthetically.’’
5. Deepika Padukone:

Deepika Padukone recently shared a picture of her from a photo shoot, where she was seen flaunting her sexy legs. Soon after, people started slamming the sultry actress for her bold avatar and even called her ‘cheap’, ‘vulgar’ and ‘disgusting’ for donning the outfit. But Deepika hit back hard by posting several photographs from the same photoshoot.
6. Sonam Kapoor:

Recently, Sonam Kapoor sported a Rosario Atelier ruffled-sleeve jumpsuit for an event and she looked stylish as ever in the outfit. However, she was slut-shamed on social media for revealing too much. Later, Sonam gave an epic reply to her haters and wrote, ‘’sexist nonsense. The photogs went out of their way to take these pics.. and frankly I don't give a damn,I'm proud of my body!’’
7. Disha Patani:

Disha Patani was also trolled online for wearing a 'revealing' black outfit for the Filmfare awards held earlier this year. When the matter escalated, Disha lashed out at the haters for being hypocrites. She wrote, "it's easier to judge a woman on the basis of how much they cover up their skin, but it's hard to accept your own cheap mentality when you can't stop staring at those inappropriate areas which you are asking her to cover". "Wake up and start accepting that we are not going to be anybody's idea of an 'Indian girl," she added.
8. Fatima Sana Shaikh:

Fatima Sana Shaikh was slut-shamed for posting a picture of herself in a saree. She captioned the image as, "Shameless selfie credit for Saree @swatimukund." Fatima has been known for her knack of posting selfies and pictures that create a wild uproar online. Not too long ago, Fatima became a victim of online trolling and slut-shaming for posting pictures in a bikini during the holy month of Ramzan. However, the gorgeous actress has chosen to ignore all the haters.

9. Ayesha Takia:

Earlier this year, Ayesha Takia received her share of trolling on social media for her new look in which she appeared to have fuller lips and cheeks. Ayesha reacted on the controversy with a picture on Instagram, where she shared a motivational quote from famous American burlesque dancer and model Dita Von Teese. “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world and there’s still going to be someone in the world who hates peaches,” it read.
10. Malaika Arora:

For a picture of Malaika posted on social media by a photographer, a troll had commented saying, "This what these sh** women do these days. Marry a rich guy then divorce him for huge alumni. And then have fun with that alumni. Why do u need alumni if u are capable of earning. I respect people and not the gender. Life now is all about wearing short clothes, going to gym or salon, enjoying the vacation. Do u seriously have any work, Or just feeding yourself on the husband's money? The word is alimony."
Malaik lashed out the troll and said, "I do not indulge in such conversation coz it's below my dignity, but I jus had to coz u certainly got to get your damn facts right before spewing sh** n slagging me off when u know nothing about me. Except sit and pass judgement on other people's life, I seriously suggest you find something to do with ur time coz you clearly have nothing better to do in life."
