Bollywood's Love Affair with Popular Destinations
Bollywood has not only taken us audience to some exotic places in India but has given us a glimpse of the exotic destinations the whole world has to offer. Here are some of bollywood's favourite destinations as we can see them being featured proudly across films.
United Kingdom - London and surroundings.
Bollywood's love affair with London is old. Perhaps, one of the oldest. From Yash Chopra films to Dharma production, small and big banenrs have utilized this city in their films showcasing its centuries old
architecture and lush green spaces. Some big films to be filmed in this country:
Canada - Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal
Now this country's natural landscape is a scene to marvel at. From the mountains along the Pacific Coast in British Columbia (Vancouver) to the French man's own country in Quebec (Montreal) to the blend of different cultures in Toronto which is Canada's biggest and most vibrant city, Bollywood has taken advantage of of all these locations as well as a few others. Here are some movies that have been shot in the country.
P.s. Although Kal Ho Naa Ho was set in new York, a large portion of the film was shot in Toronto as the two cities resemble each other in the way it's been built (tall buildings, busy downtown core, etc.)
Australia
Sydney, Melbourne - two of Australia's vibrant city. When you think of Australia, you picture surfers, amazing oceans, lots of cafes and shopping centres, vibrant city
The United States of America
Bollywood has shot films across the US but it's safe to say that New York City is its favourite. And why not? The city has so much to offer.
Amongst other cities are Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami
Switzerland
Of course, who can forget Bollywood's absolutely undying love for the snow-laden mountains of Switzerland. We have seen so many of our brilliant actresses draped in thin sarees or wearing a dress, romancing the heroes against the white scenery.
Moving onto a pristine island, Mauritius has it all. From deep seas to white sand beaches, it's been chosen as one of the most sought after shooting locations.
Yes it was shot in Mauritius partly
Greece - a country and its civilzation that dates back to some of the earliest written history. We have often seen Greek architecture being featured in bollywood films. This is another pristine location that is just being explored.
I'm sure I've missed a few popular destinations. What are you favourite destinations and what would you like to do there if you yourself were an actor/actress?
