Birthday Special: 8 best movies of Preity Zinta that you just can’t afford to miss

During her career span in Bollywood, Preity Zinta has given us characters of all shades. She has given us powerful female characters like Zara (Veer Zara), Amber (Salaam Namaste) and Naina ( Kal Ho Na Ho) among others. The actor who believes in taking a stand and speaking her mind was always one of a kind in Bollywood.

While growing up in the 90s and in the early 2000s, it was almost impossible to not fall in love with Preity Zinta. With no godfather, she climbed the ladder of success in Bollywood. The much-adored actress, who got married to Gene Goodenough in 2016, has been a part of a lot of outstanding Bollywood films that you just can’t afford to miss!

1. Dil Se (1998):

Preity Zinta marked her debut in Bollywood with this 1998 released film, Dil Se. She got a dream chance to star opposite Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Despite having only 20 minutes of screen time, she made an impact with her strong character. She went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her performance in the film. 

2. Sangharsh (1999):

The movie based on the American film, Silence of The Lambs (1991), saw Preity playing the character of Reet Oberoi, a CBI officer who falls in love with a prisoner (Akshay Kumar). Preity’s charm and energy level were hugely lauded by the audience. 

3. Kya Kehna (2000):

Based on single parenting and teenage pregnancy, Kya Kehna is one of Preity Zinta’s best performances till date. She played the role of Priya Bakshi, a teenage single mother, who was determined to give birth to her love child even after getting abandoned by her boyfriend. A strong character, Preity pulled it off with aplomb. 

4. Dil Chahta Hai (2001):

The film garnered a cult status and was lauded for its portrayal of Indian youth and urban lifestyle. Preity received a lot of appreciation for her role as the curly-haired Shalini, who was Aamir Khan’s love interest in the film. The movie also starred Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles.  

5. Kal Ho Na Ho (2003):

Preity Zinta played the role of Naina Catherine Kapur, the straight hair and bespectacled beauty, who falls in love with Aman (Shah Rukh Khan) who is suffering from a fatal heart disease. She won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for her simple yet powerful role in the film.

6. Koi Mil Gaya (2003):

Preity Zinta’s chemistry with co-star Hrithik Roshan was the soul of the film. The sci-fi entertainer went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year and remains one of Zinta’s most popular films.

7. Veer Zaara (2004):

It is one of the best cross-border love stories in Bollywood based on the characters from India and Pakistan. The film is based on an unfortunate love story of an Indian Air Force pilot and a Pakistani girl, who were separated for 22 years. The pangs of separation were displayed extremely well by the lead actors Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan. Veer Zaara remains one of the most loved romantic films of all time.

8. Salaam Namaste (2005):

The film revolved around a couple in a live-in relationship and their subsequent struggle with an unexpected pregnancy. Preity Zinta received rave reviews from critics as well as the audience for her role as the strong-headed female protagonist. She was seen opposite Saif Ali Khan in the film.
