Best female singers in Bollywood (In Recent Times)
On special request, I tried enlisting the best talents in Bollywood in the field of Playback Singing.
SUNIDHI CHAUHAN: The Queen of Item Numbers, Sunidhi’s breakthrough in the industry came with Ram Gopal Varma’s MAST, where she sang for the title track and the song “ruki Ruki Si Zindagi’. The songs went on to become huge hits. Since then Sunidhi has turned into a HIT machine with almost all her songs becoming chartbusters. Known for her fast paced dance numbers, Sunidhi took a complete U-turn and displayed her versatility by singing the song “Kaisi Paheli Zindgaani’ from the film PARINEETA. Her last big song, “Shiela Ki Jawani’ is still ruling the charts.
Best Sunidhi Songs: Shiela ki Jawani (Tees Maar Khan), Beedi jalai le (Omkara), Challiya (Tashan), Kaisi Paheli Zindgaani (Parineeta), Dhoom (Title Track), Chor Bazaari (Love Aaj Kal), etc.
SHREYA GHOSHAL: The girl with the Golden voice, Shreya is new age’s ALKA YAGNIK (Not comparing her to LATAJI for obvious reasons). Her voice is melodious, soothing and soft as silk. God bless SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI for spotting this girl at a competition and gave her a dream break by letting her sing for his film DEVDAS. Since then, there was no looking back for this petite and cute looking girl, who is now amongst the cream of the Bollywood Music Industry.
Best Shreya Songs: Bairi Piya (Devdas), Ye Ishq Haye (Jab We Met), Jaadu hai Nasha Hai (Jism), Teri Ore (Singh is King), Zoobi Doobi (3 Idiots), Noor-e-Khuda (My Name is Khan), etc.
REKHA BHARDWAJ: Rekha is not the regular Bollywood Playback singer and that is pretty evident from her body of work. Acclaimed Director Vishal Bhardwaj’s wife, she got her due recognition with the song ‘Namak Ishq Ka’ from Omkara. She has a great voice and her power to emote through her voice is immense. We don’t get to listen to her more often as much as we would like to, but she always comes up with brilliant, Soul Soothing songs.
Best Rekha’s Songs: Namak Ishq Ka (Omkara), Ranjha Ranjha (Raavan), Darling (Saat Khoon Maaf), Genda Phool (Delhi-6), Raat ke Dhai Baje (Kaminey), etc
RICHA SHARMA: Soulful – The word which would be apt to describe this brilliant singer’s gorgeous voice. She definitely sings from her heart and it shows. Known to bring that special Sufi touch to her songs, Richa’s first big song was ‘Maahi Ve’ from the film Kaante. She was not a very well known singer until recently when her songs have finally got acceptance from a wider audience. Her Last song ‘Sajda’ from the film My Name is Khan got her nominations at every Award Function.
Best Richa’s Songs: Maahi Ve (Kaante), Baghban (Title Track), Sajda (My Name is Khan), Billo rani (Goal), Dil Mile bina (Om Shanti Om), etc.
ANUSHKA MANCHANDA: Sassy, Spunky and Sexy – that would pretty much sum up the personality of this Rock star and it shows in her songs. She is the only one out of the 5 girls from the band VIVA who is able to make a mark for herself in this Industry. Her First Big song was ‘Golmaal’ from the film by the same name and that song became the soul of the film. She has been delivering foot tapping numbers one after the other. The only thing is that she needs to experiment and present herself as a versatile singer.
Best Anushka’s Songs: Golmaal (Golmaal), Naughty Naughty (Cash), Let’s Rock (We Are Family), By the way (Aisha), Alisha (Pyar Impossible), Apna Har Din (Golmaal 3), etc.
BRIGHT FUTURE:

Who is your favorite amongst the current working singers (female)??
