Batti Gul Meter Chalu starring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor all set to hit the theatres this week
This week, Batti Gul Meter Chalu directed by Shree Narayan Singh will entertain the audience with power-packed performances by Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. Read on to know why this film is important for both the stars.
Bollywood seems to be looking for social issues important to the common man to entertain the audience. This week’s release, Batti Gul Meter Chalu starring the handsome Shahid Kapoor and the beautiful Shraddha Kapoor is also about one such social issue. The film, which is directed by Shree Narayan Singh tackles the issue of Electricity theft in the rural areas of the country and how faulty meters and inflated bills affect the lives of the common man. This drama film also stars Divyendu Sharma and Yami Gautam playing important roles.
But, the main protagonist of the film is Shahid Kapoor. Recently, the dashing actor has become a father again to a baby boy who was named Zain. In the movie, he plays the role of Sushil Kumar Pant who is an unethical lawyer. He is only interested in making money and doesn’t believe in fighting for what’s right. However, things take a different turn when something transpires with his close friend and the movie shows how he changes post that.

Shraddha Kapoor is the leading lady opposite Shahid and essays the role of his friend and love interest. Both of them along with Divyendu Sharma will be seen fighting against the electricity theft issue which has become pretty common after privatisation. Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat which was in the news for all the wrong reasons. The multi-starrer that included Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, left very little space for him to be appreciated. Thus, this film is quite crucial for him professionally and personally as well.

For Shraddha Kapoor, who was recently seen opposite Rajkummar Rao in the super hit film Stree, this movie is quite important to establish her presence in the industry for the long haul. If this Bollywood flick works, both their careers would surely get a major boost. Shot in Tehri, Uttarakhand, Batti Gul Meter Chalu will also include Yami Gautam essaying the role of a lawyer who will face off with Shahid in the court of law. Thus, this week’s release is sure to bring in lots of action, drama and emotions for the audience. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on the same!
