A lot of furor has been created in the last couple of weeks regarding the verdict of the filmstar Sanjay Dutt who was accussed of possessing illegal arms and was even sentenced to couple of years of rigorous imprisonment. The fate of the notable actor and son of yesteryear's superstar legendary late Nargis Dutt and the late actor politician Sunil Dutt, Mr. Sanjya Dutt is today known to everyone as he was given verdict to serve in the jail for some more years. Though Mr. Sanjay Dutt had no direct connection with the 1993 Mumbai Blasts( it has been proven in court) yet he did aquire weapons from the dreaded underworld dons . Moreover there has been other incidents when celebrities like Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan have been accused to involved in police case. Be it killing of innocent roadsiders by rash driving in a drunken state of killing of Black buck the Bollywood celebrities seem to be involved in dark matters other than films. True that the glamor and aura that Bollywood shows from outside is not at all so as evident from incidents of one upmanships and the numerous alleged casting couch incidents the common man has a special kind of adulation for such celebrities. The markness of Bollywood is further evident from the sorry suicide of the talented Jiah Khan who was perhaps victimised in the uber competitive industry. Even celebrities from other fields like spot fixing alleged S.Sreesanth and co. and Raj Kundra are awaiting the verdict of the court on their fate.

India being a democratic country has a strong legal system and law is bound to be equal for all . Thus just being a celebrity one cannot respite from suffering punishments even after committing misdeeds. Money and fame should not act as a factor in depriving justice and punishing the accussed. However on the contrary one may argue that often celebrities like Dutt are victimised and harassed just because they are celebrities and the people involved in the process get some free publicity. There are hundreds of scams happening in India everytime, be it the 2G or 3G scam or the coal scam and evil politicians and criminals seem to be the major culprits. The political nexus in India with various profit making endevors makes this country a hub of corruption and nepotism. Thus while almost none of the evil doers are punished in these scams the punishment and the severity of the media on the celebrites seem harsh at times.

In conclusion it can be said that celebrity or non-celebrity none should be excused if they have committed a crime . However efforts must be taken that no one gets unduly victimised . It is only by walking on the path of truth and courage we can make India a strong country and maintaining transeperecny is of the supreme importance.
