Akshay Kumar-Salman Khan to Rajkummar Rao-Ayushmann Khurrana; Top Actors of 2017

When we look back at the year 2017, we see a series of movies starring almost all leading superstars of the country. Bollywood saw movies of stars ranging from Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan to Ranbir Kapoor and Varun Dhawan. Though it was a bad year for the movies, the superstars, despite lacking the storyline stood out with their incredible performances in these movies. It was a bad year for superstars but indeed an amazing year for stars in the making like Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana with their work in movies like Newton and Bareilly Ki Barfi respectively.

Today, let's take a look at the top actors of 2017:

Akshay Kumar - Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

Akshay Kumar shined through 2017 with his two movies which dealt with both patriotism and social issues. Talking about Jolly LLB 2, the film had Akshay playing the role of a lawyer and with his look as a simpleton man nailed it perfectly. Talking about Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, the movie was based on Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi's Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan and Akshay without any inhibitions spoke about open defecation which indeed was an eye-opener for several people in the country.

Ayushmann Khurrana - Meri Pyaari Bindu, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Bareilly Ki Barfi

The multi-talented actor had three releases this year and all the movies were beautiful love stories. In Meri Pyaari Bindu, Ayushmann with his sweet and innocent look showed how unrequited love can be beautiful too. While in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, he impressed everyone with his role as a man suffering from erectile dysfunction. Whereas, in Bareilly Ki Barfi, he was seen as a small town guy who wants to win a girl's heart without revealing his true identity.

Hrithik Roshan - Kaabil

When Hrithik did Koi Mil Gaya, he stunned everyone with his role as a mentally ill person. And with Kaabil, he oozed everyone with his role as a visually impaired person who is seeking revenge from his wife's rapists. The action and emotions were perfectly blended by Duggu and people loved him thoroughly.

Irrfan Khan - Hindi Medium

A person who can crack jokes with a straight face and still leave people in splits would be Irrfan Khan. In Hindi Medium, the powerhouse of talent was seen playing the role of a man, who goes to extreme lengths to fulfil his wife's dream of making his daughter study in an elite English medium school. With every transition happening in the story, Irrfan showed us that no one can play such a role better than him.

Rajkummar Rao - Newton and Bareilly Ki Barfi

2017 was indeed a year for Rajkummar Rao! His role as a clerk on election duty in Newton is still etched in people's hearts. He is also winning several accolades at every possible film festival and awards, be it here or internationally. In Bareilly Ki Barfi, he was seen as a simple person who becomes a bait for Ayushmann. It was a parallel role, but Rajkummar made the same impact like Ayushmann did in the film.

Ranbir Kapoor - Jagga Jasoos

After many years, we saw Jagga Jasoos finally making it to the big screen. The movie had Ranbir playing the role of a young boy who has a stammering problem and is in search of his missing dad. Though the film was a box-office failure, RK was loved for his cute look and wow performance.

Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor - Rangoon

Rangoon became one of the biggest duds of 2017. But the lead heroes Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor were loved a lot for their vintage look and also for getting into the skin of their characters perfectly.

Salman Khan - Tiger Zinda Hai

Well, 2017 has indeed ended with a bang all thanks to the Salman Khan starrer Tiger Zinda Hai. The movie is the sequel to another of Salman's hit film Ek Tha Tiger which released in the year 2012. Salman's kickass action and romance with Katrina Kaif has made the movie unmissable and of course, worth watching during the Christmas weekend.

Shah Rukh Khan - Raees

If the year was ended with a bang with Salman's Tiger Zinda Hai, it started with Shah Rukh Khan's Raees after making his fans wait impatiently. SRK's role as a bootlegger with grey shades made people fall in love with him all over again. His intense kohled-eyes still make girls go weak on their knees.

Varun Dhawan - Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2

Well, the list is definitely incomplete without the name of Varun Dhawan. The hitmaker hasn't given any flop in his five-year-old career (*touchwood*) and this year he gave two fantabulous movies - Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2. In BKD, he played an adorable small town guy who realises his own self after falling in love with a career-oriented woman played by Alia Bhatt. His thinking changes from being an obedient son to an independent person who could judge between right and wrong. While Judwaa 2 was a remake/sequel to Salman's Judwaa, Varun gave his own touch to the characters Raja-Prem and became girls' favourite this year too.
