The countdown has already started for 2017 to end and the New Year, 2018 to start. And talking about the year 2017, it saw a series of celebrities making the news for both good and bad reasons. Moreover, many went on to break the Internet with their shocking pictures, quotes, videos and more.

A few celebrities were in the news throughout the year and managed to keep Bollywood lovers keep a track of their personal and professional lives. A few were bashed, while a few were loved for whatever they did in 2017.

From Taimur Ali Khan's one year journey to Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's surprise marriage and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's terrific Cannes red carpet appearances to Deepika Padukone making her Hollywood debut and facing backlash for playing Rani Padmavati, we saw it all.

Let's take a look at the top celebrities of PINKVILLA in 2017.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Well, she definitely has to be on the list every year. Last year, she impressed everyone in Karan Johar's directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and this year though she wasn't seen in any movie, she stunned everyone with her incredible fashion sense. At Cannes 2017, the former beauty queen went the Cinderella way and grabbed everyone's eyeballs. She looked like royalty in her baby blue embroidered gown by Michael Cinco. The fitted bodice and the dramatic skirt was a no-brainer when it comes to the Cannes red carpet. The big gown needed minimal styling and her simple hair and makeup rounded the look out perfectly.

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli

December 2017 was the month of Virushka as they are fondly called. After four years of courtship, the lovely couple got hitched on December 11, 2017, privately in Tuscany, Italy. They then went to Finland for their honeymoon and hosted their wedding receptions in Delhi and Mumbai respectively.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika started the year with a bang as she made her Hollywood debut with xXx: Return of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel. She made her red carpet appearances at the Oscars After Party, Cannes 2017 and more. Coming to Bollywood, she was all set to be seen playing the titular role of Rani Padmini in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati opposite Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. But, due to the protests by Karni Sena for allegedly distorting the historical facts, the year turned out to be a disturbing one for DP. But, like a diva, she approached every controversy with a smiling face. We hope to see Padmavati on the big screen soon.

Hrithik Roshan

After almost two years of the infamous Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut controversy, the former gave two explosive interviews to two leading channels. Hrithik stated his side of the story and before that he shared a Facebook post too regarding the controversy. He said, "I choose to be on a path of creativity, productivity and constructive work. Anything that isn't in alignment with that, I tend to ignore, sidestep and treat as a distraction.

I believe that ignorance, non 

reaction and staying on the path of dignity is the best way to discourage any persistent unwanted intrusions. But Just like a nagging health issue sometimes ignored can turn malignant, this situation for me has unfortunately turned malignant.

In case of the matter at hand, it seems the media has no intention of letting go.

I don't see any grace in adding to this circus by testifying in defence of my character in a situation that I have no involvement in whatsoever.

I have been dragged into a dirty perverse mess without a choice in the matter. This is something that is not of my making.

The truth is, I have never met the lady in question one on one in my entire life. Yes, we have worked together, but there has been no meeting in private. Thats the truth

Please understand, I am not fighting against an allegation of an affair. Or being childish trying to uphold a ‘good guy” image. I am very aware of my faults, I am human.

I am in fact protecting myself from something far more serious, sensitive and destructive than that.

Sadly, very few from the media or the public seem to be interested in the truth. This has been a hard-learnt fact for me.

If the people are comfortable with a lie because it doesn't threaten their model of the world where a girl is the victim and the man the aggressor then so be it. I am ok with that too.

Women have suffered centuries of abuse at the hands of men and it infuriates me how some men can be so brutal and they deserve the harshest punishment. But by that logic if it ordains that one man can't be vulnerable and one woman can't be a liar, so be it. I'm ok with that too.

An alleged 7-year long, passionate affair between two high profile celebrities with no trail left behind.

No evidence, no paparazzi pictures, no witnesses, not even a memento in possession like a selfie taken at the alleged engagement which is claimed to have happened in Paris in Jan 2014. Nothing that constitutes an exchange or any sort of proof of a romantic relationship.

Yet we want to believe the other party because the rhetoric is -why would a girl lie.

My passport details show no travel outside the country in Jan 2014, which is the date that this alleged engagement supposedly took place. In Paris.

The only so-called proof presented of this alleged "relationship", was a photoshopped picture in the media. This was immediately exposed, the very next day by friends including my ex-wife.

These questions are not even asked, because we are taught to protect the woman, as we should. I myself have been brought up to think the same way, by my parents and the wonderful women in my life who have been my rock and support system. I'm deeply grateful to them. I will do my best to teach my children the same values of family and dignity. And yes, I will teach them to stand up for women. Always.

There are 3000 one sided mails which either I have sent to myself or the woman in question has sent to me. The Cyber-Crime Dept. can prove or disprove either story, in just a few days. Towards that purpose, I have surrendered all my devices including laptops / phones etc which are still lying with the cyber cell , but the other party has refused to do so. The investigation hasn't been closed.

This is not, and I repeat, not a lovers spat. I humbly request people to stop labelling it as one and, for a second, try and see it for what it really is.

I have been harassed by this for 4 years and the well meaning and probably necessary social bias toward women has deemed me helpless in defending myself.

I am not angry, I have seldom allowed anger into my life. I have not had a single fight in my life, with a man or a woman. Even in my divorce, there was no fight. I, and those around me, have always chosen peace.

I am not here to accuse or judge anyone, but it's time I defend the truth because when truth suffers the collective consciousness of society suffers. Civilization suffers. Closer to home, families suffer. Children suffer."

Kangana Ranaut

Well, how can we forget the way Kangana Ranaut started the year. She made people understand the literal meaning of the word 'Nepotism' all thanks to her stint in Koffee With Karan Season 5. She called the filmmaker a 'flagbearer of nepotism' on his show and from there, the big controversy started which lasted for almost a year. Many open letters were exchanged, many took a dig at the actress and stirred more controversies within the film fraternity.

Before Hrithik opened up about his controversy with Kangana, the actress gave an interview during her movie Simran's promotions. During a TV interview, she said, "He (Hrithik Roshan) and his father claimed they would expose me and shock the world, but they couldn’t prove anything. He (Hrithik) slapped a notice saying, ‘She caused great harm to my reputation because she called me a ‘silly ex.’ I am the silly ex.’ But, he couldn’t prove it. So, he changed his stance and said, ‘She’s right, she had an affair, but that wasn’t me, it was an imposter.’ But, he couldn’t prove that also." 

She also said, "When Hrithik says I had an affair with a fictitious person, I feel like I am in a space-age film & we are all aliens.” Kangana had retaliated with a notice of her own at Hrithik’s notice to her, about which she said, “He saw me too weak in love, too docile and tame. He couldn't imagine I could gather strength & send a notice back."

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Well, Kareena owned 2017 all thanks to her physical transformation after giving birth to her son Taimur Ali Khan in 2016. Kareena's gym appearances, her workout videos and also her photoshoots for several magazine covers grabbed many eyeballs. Now, after a year, Kareena was seen flaunting her washboard abs during a workout session. On the work front, she is all set to be seen in Veere Di Wedding, which will be releasing in 2018.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra has become a global citizen, all thanks to her American TV Show Quantico, her Hollywood debut movie Baywatch and more. She came to India a couple of times and it was fun to see her back too here. Moreover, she made headlines when she spoke about a leather jacket she has which was formerly owned by her ex-boyfriend. Speculations started making the rounds about the jacket belonging to her alleged ex-Shah Rukh Khan. 

Ranbir Kapoor-Mahira Khan

Photos speak a thousand words were proved by the papped images of Ranbir and Mahira clicked while they were in the US together. Reacting to this, Ranbir Kapoor in a statement to a leading daily had said, "I've gotten to know Mahira in a personal capacity over the last few months. She is somebody who I admire and respect, for her achievements and even more for the person she is. It is very unfair the way she is being judged and spoken about. What is also said is the inequality in judgment just because she is a woman. I request you to stop the negativity and move on with your beautiful god gifted lives. Peace and Love."

While Mahira had said, "What should I comment about it? It's a personal thing and we have learnt from it. I am a very careful person otherwise. I think it's very normal for a girl and a guy to hang out. Like I said, we all have learnt from it and we have understood that the media is now everywhere."

Star kids brigade - Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and more

It was raining star kids in Bollywood this year. Many young star kids namely Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and others were clicked by the paparazzi while they went out and about in the city. Moreover, Janhvi and Sara are all set to make their Bollywood debut with Dhadak and Kedarnath respectively.

In 2018, we will get to see more star kids making their debut on the big screen and also getting captured by the photogs as well.

Taimur Ali Khan

Last but not the least, the star of 2017 has to be Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan's one-year-old kid Taimur Ali Khan. His chubby cheeks and those curious eyes managed to win hearts slowly and before we knew it, the chote nawab became the most loved star kid in town! From travelling with his parents to places, swinging in his balcony to his first birthday party held in Pataudi Palace, Taimur went on to become an everyday news in 2017. Don't you guys agree?
