Sonakshi Sinha, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rani Mukerji: Actors who played journalists on-screen
With Sonakshi Sinha stepping into the shoes of a journalist, we list down the most memorable journo characters from Bollywood.
Journalism is one terrain which Bollywood has experimented with but NOT very often. Given the nature of the job, it would be safe to say that it is rather difficult to show the true essence of this highly misunderstood profession on the celluloid. However, Sonakshi Sinha has now dared to step into the shoes of a journalist in her movie Noor which has hit the theaters today.
One of the earlier movies which came really close to capture the role of an ideal political journalist was an American movie titled All the President's Men. Well, Bollywood isn't far behind when it comes to telling the story of a journalist and their thankless job. Although far away from reality, a journalist is often portrayed as a corrupt individual. But it's not all so bad, giving us a ray of hope are a few memorable journo characters from Bollywood.
Here is a list of a few actors who nailed the role of a journalist:
1. Rani Mukerji in No One Killed Jessica: As a crude fictional journalist Meera Gaity, Rani gave a stellar performance. The movie was based on the infamous Jessica Lall murder case and Rani as a journalist on the chase for the story was truly convincing on the big screen.

2. Kareena Kapoor Khan in Satyagraha: Kareena Kapoor Khan played the role of a strong headed TV field reporter, Yasmin, in Prakash Jha's socio-political drama Satyagraha. Playing her part as a responsible journalist, it is Yasmin who gives voice to the entire social movement that takes place in the movie.

3. Preity Zinta in Lakshya: As a war correspondent stationed in Kargil, Preity did a commendable job in Lakshya. Even though Hrithik Roshan was the protagonist in the story, it was Preity's character that helped him find his goal. Her performance as a journalist who loves and respects her job (much like us all) was unmissable.

4. Konkana Sen Sharma in Page 3/ Wake Up Sid: Madhur Bhandarkar's directorial movie Page 3 shows the darker side of the profession. Konkana as a journo, who is sickened by the uncanny world of journalism, is on point. Konkana also played a columnist in Wake Up Sid. With her stellar performance, she tries to take us through all the miseries and struggles associated with being a journalist in the movie.

5. Shah Rukh Khan in Dil Se: Shah Rukh Khan plays the role of a programme executive for All India Radio in Dil Se. Though the story is not essentially about journalism or journalist, it is SRK's performance in the movie that makes it one of the most memorable journo characters in Bollywood.

6. Sridevi in Mr. India: Sridevi plays the role of a daredevil journalist in the movie who goes out of her way to unmask the corrupt powerful men. It is one of the finest performance of the evergreen actress till date.

7. Naseeruddin Shah in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron: This is perhaps one of the wittiest of the movies on journalism of all times. The movie essentially tries to expose the corruption that goes with the profession. It follows the trail of Naseeruddin Shah and Ravi Baswani who work as stringers and are exposed to the other side of the profession in their attempt to expose the two rich builders and a municipal commissioner who indulge in corruption.

8. Ranbir Kapoor in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: As a lifestyle/travel journalist, Ranbir Kapoor's character in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was quite an inspirational one. Though the character did not really explore the nuances of journalism, it was Ranbir's passion for the field that makes it one of the most memorable characters.

9. Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Bajrangi Bhaijaan: As a Pakistani journalist who helps Pawan aka Salman Khan unite Munni with her parents, Nawazuddin gave a stellar performance. His cheeky and humorous side won several hearts and is one of a kind character. In one particular scene, he even imitates a real life situation of a Pak journalist Chand Nawab and boy, that scene is sure to remain in one's memory for a long long time.
