Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan: Top actors of the 1st quarter of 2017
Here is our list of Top Actors in the 1st quarter of 2017. Who is your pick?
It's already April and it feels like we just started 2k17. Bollywood saw many movies make its way to the audience. While some were loved and joined the 100-crore club, there were others who disappointed at the box-office despite having good content.
But whatever the fate of the movie, there were some performances that went above and beyond just the content. The actors brought their A-game and started 2017 with a bang.
From Shah Rukh Khan in Raees to Varun Dhawan in Badrinath Ki Dulhania, we list down actors who impressed us the in the first quarter of 2017:
1. Shah Rukh Khan (Raees)
Ever since the teaser of Raees was out, fans of SRK had been anxiously waiting to see King Khan in a never-before-seen avatar. With the kohl-rimmed eyes and the Pathani swagger, Shah Rukh made Raees his own and his acting was loved by the fans.
2. Akshay Kumar (Jolly LLB 2)
Akshay Kumar had big shoes to fill as Arshad Warsi's character in Jolly LLB is beloved. With Jolly LLB 2, Akshay played the role of a hot-shot lawyer to a tee and lived up to people's expectations. The sequel became a hit thanks to Akshay and the supporting cast.
3. Shahid Kapoor (Rangoon)
In Rangoon, Shahid Kapoor plays army man Nawab who falls in love with Julia (Kangana Ranaut). With fierce innocence and bravery, Shahid plays his role to perfection. You can never go wrong in a Shahid Kapoor-Vishal Bhardwaj collaboration and Rangoon was no exception.
4. Varun Dhawan (Badrinath Ki Dulhania)
Varun Dhawan was the true star of Badrinath Ki Dulhania. With BKD, Varun Dhawan proved why he is one of the most bankable stars amongst the current lot. Right from the accent to the emotional aspect, Varun makes you fall in love with his character Badri despite the flaws.
5. Hrithik Roshan (Kaabil)
In Kaabil, Hrithik plays Rohan, a blind man who sets to seek revenge against those who have done him wrong. Hrithik's brave, raw and humble portrayal is considered as his best work to date and rightfully so. Kaabil was able to bring out the superstar in HR as his eyes did all the talking.
6. Diljit Dosanjh (Phillauri)
Diljit Dosanjh is just two Bollywood movies old but he has already created a mark for himself. With Phillauri, Diljit plays a singer from the olden era and his acting remains consistent throughout the movie. His dialogue delivery was outstanding and we loved the chemistry he shared with Anushka Sharma in the movie.
7. Saif Ali Khan (Rangoon)
Saif Ali Khan plays the flamboyant filmmaker Rusi in Rangoon and his charm is enough to make you fall in love with the character. Saif's royalness helps in the character portrayal and his menacing eyes do all the talking. Although his role was a bit brief in comparison to Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor, Saif manages to shine on his own accord.
8. Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Raees)
If Shah Rukh Khan was the star of Raees, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the heart of the movie. There isn't a movie in which Nawaz does not shine with his excellent acting chops and Raees was no exception. Nawaz's Majmudar is the perfect enemy for SRK's Raees.
9. Rajkummar Rao (Trapped)
Rajkummar Rao burst into the Bollywood scene with Shahid and now to see his acting evolution in Trapped is remarkable. He plays the character Shaurya who seems like an average joe at first but quickly transforms into a maniacal character due to harsh conditions he has been put through.
10. Suraj Sharma (Phillauri)
We all remember Suraj Sharma from the Oscar-winning movie Life of Pi. In 2017, Suraj made his Bollywood debut in Phillauri. Suraj plays the lovable dork Kanan who has to marry a tree because he is a Manglik. Because of that, he gets haunted by the friendly spirit Shashi. Suraj's comic timing is perfect and he is a good fit for Bollywood, indeed.
