Flashback Friday: I think she's having her cake and eating it too - When ex-GF Amrita Singh blasted Sunny Deol's then love interest Dimple Kapadia!

Sunny Deol made his debut into Hindi films with Betaab (1983) alongside Amrita Singh. Since Betaab had intimate scenes, smooches, the closeness between Sunny-Amrita set many tongues wagging. 

Their relationship evoked mixed reactions. Amrita's mother, Rukhsana Sultana, who was a Delhi-based political figure, was totally against it. Back then, there was a strong buzz that Rukhsana had set out to investigate Sunny's background further. Rumour has it that it was Rukhsana who first discovered Sunny's hidden relationship with a girl called Pooja in London.

Even in Deol household, Sunny's mother Prakash Kaur was totally against her son dating the bold and attractive Amrita. 

Ironically, it was much later that the word got to know - Sunny was already married to Pooja in England!

While Amrita was clueless about Sunny's marriage with Pooja, incidentally Pooja was also unaware about her husband's relationship with Amrita.

Apparently, Deols also wanted to keep Sunny's marriage under the wraps because he was just beginning his Bollywood career. That was the reason why Pooja continued to live in London and Sunny visited her occasionally. But, when the news of his marriage was finally out in open, Sunny denied them. However, this marked the end of the Amrita and Sunny's relationship.

Amrita then moved on and news started doing the rounds that Sunny was now with Dimple Kapadia who was separated from her superstar husband Rajesh Khanna. Gossip mills were abuzz with the reports that Sunny is living with Dimple, despite the fact his wife was now in Mumbai and staying in the Deol home. 

When Amrita was once asked about Dimple's relationship with Sunny, she had quoted, "I think she's having her cake and eating it too. She's got nothing to lose And most importantly, she's got her guy where she wants him. So what if it's not heading anywhere? When you've already lived a life, you are happy with a relationship that's at status quo." 

On the other hand, Sunny-Dimple's affair lasted more than two decades. It continued until around 1996-97 when it finally hit a rough patch for a brief time owing to Sunny's fling with his Ziddi (1997) actress Raveena Tandon. In those days, Raveena was heartbroken because of BF Akshay Kumar who had cheated on her. But after a brief while, this one too bit the dust. 

The Sunny-Dimple affair continued discreetly initially but eventually became an open secret. As per the reports, while these two were dating, Dimple’s daughters Twinkle and Rinke had started calling Sunny ‘Chote Papa’. Moreover, in the year 2009, when Dimple's sister Simple Kapadia passed away, Sunny was by Dimple's side on the flight consoling her. 

Despite his colourful love life, Sunny has been living happily with his wife Pooja, and in the last decade or so, there have been barely any rumours heard about the actor. 

Strangely or so, over the years, there have been many sightings of Amrita-Dimple spending quality time each other and are often spotted hanging out together. Looks like, the ladies have their past behind and even the man too...
